Flora rocked the baby in her arms. "Julius left a few hours ago. He'll be due back any minute."
I sighed. Amber would not be satisfied that I was gone so long, and still didn't secure the baby.
"Where did he go?" I asked.
"I don't know. " Flora answered.
Said boy walked in through the door.
"Hey, who are -"
We froze when we saw each other. He was so much older now, and seemingly more powerful. He was about 23, compared to my 20 year old self. More muscular too.
"Kashmir. I did not expect to see you here."
"As you can see, I am." I said. I felt angry. I wanted to hit Julius. He had been distant ever since Jasmine left him for Garrett Davenport, a Specialist. Then we completely stopped speaking when he left for Obsidian. I thought he died in his traveling. Apparently not. I mourned for him, only to see him now. Alive.
"I'll leave you two alone," Flora said. "Come on, Julia."
Julius's daughter giggled and smiled. She was adorable.
"Julius, I know we've not seen each other in two years, but I would like to get to know you better. We were friends, two of the few male fairies. Can we start over?"
He stared at me. "Amber sent you here, didn't she?"
I was freaked! "Yes."
He sat on top of his table and gestured for me to do the same. So I did.
"So..." he started.
I just stared at him. "For starters, what happened to you? You must have had some growing up to do.
He 'nodded. "Richardson takes magic training very seriously.
We spoke for hours, and eventually got to the subject of Julius's daughter. He seemed very proud of her, and his son, Justin.
"They are my pride and joy. I love them both, and I want to see my little kids grow up."
Then I got ready. "Can I take care of Julia?" I asked.
He looked at me and said, "Sure. But Flora will be helping you, so..."
I smiled. "That is fine. We can help each other out."
Julius chuckled and said, "I've forgotten that I enjoy your company."
I nodded. "Maybe we could speak again later."
He nodded and shook my hand, then went into the other room with Flora.
