Prologue

I sat there and waited for the doctor to come tell my sister and I the news that we had been waiting patiently for. My parents had to work today and couldn't take her to get the check-up so I had been left to do it. Still the bruises on her arm just wouldn't go away, and so here we sat waiting for what the heck was the matter with her. That's when I saw the doctor talking to the nurse her name was Jessica and she had been working in this place for 7 years, her and my mom were great friends they were always together when they were off work, I watched as the doctor whispered something to her and saw her look at us and gasp and begin to cry. Oh my gosh this was bad really really bad! I looked down at my little sister, my sweet innocent little Britt, she was only 10 and already something awful had happened.

"Miss Walkers may I speak to you?" the doctor asked. "S-s-s-u-ure." I stutter and stand up following him as he goes into his office and closes the door. "Please have a seat." he said motioning to a chair. "I'm just gonna say it right now you are 18 and you need to know what's the matter." he told me very straightforward. I nod my head because words can't seem to escape my lips. "You're sister has leukemia and it is extremely severe. We have no clue how much longer she has." I stared at him for a second in utter shock, then I passed out.

I woke up and looked around I see my mom with tear steaks down her face and my dad sitting quietly next to her. "What happened?" I asked seeing the fact I was in a hospital bed a d wondering how I got here. That's when it all hit me.. Ah crap! I looked at my mom and then felt silent tears run down my face.

* * 2 Months Later * *

It had only been 2 months since Britt's diagnosis but she had already lost most of her hair due to all the emergency chemotherapy she has been having to do. I had missed a lot of school due to her illness so it was no surprise when I was late to school this morning. I saw all the students rushing to class not wanting to be late and I saw all my ex- best friends walking together I got out of my car only to be surrounded by them and I git slapped and punched and kicked and stemmed on until I was a bloody mess. When they were gone I got up and walked to class despite all the stares from teachers wondering what had happened. They didn't stop it the first time so why would they now? I thought walking into the classroom.

When I got home Britt took one look at my clothes and asked, "What happened?" I looked at her knowing she would tell mom and dad and I would be in the principals office with 'them' so I decided to lie, "Fell on my face and got a bloody nose but don't tell mom and dad or they'll make me go to the hospital and I don't want to go there anymore." I said. She nodded and looked excitedly at me. "Will you do something for me?" she asked. I nodded hesitantly wondering what she wanted. "Mom and Dad bought us tickets for the One Direction meet and greet in 4 months! Will you take me please!?" I looked at how happy she was and decided I would do it even though I only knew a little but about this band she loved. "Absolutely." I told her smiling as her excitement spread to me.
