Hali couldn't move. Her hands were covered in sweat, and she felt her entire body go cold with chills.
She didn't fall asleep at all! Sure, there may have been times where she was close to it, but she didn't recall ever falling asleep! She barely heard anything but the noises of the owls chirping and the wind rushing onto the window as the trees swayed in the nighttime breeze.
She looked around the room slowly, and instead of grabbing her flashlight, she ran towards the light and turned it on. She gasped and looked around fast. She couldn't have gone far, it had only been ten minutes at the most! Since they took a later flight, they had gotten there at 4 in the morning. The sun was starting to rise by now, just slightly, but still. It must've been about 5 in the morning, and of course, Max was gone.
Now, Max was very strange... but she had never actually done anything much like this at all.
So Hali was terrified at this point. Had someone really actually broken into the hotel room through the window? But how? Max made sure the window was locked before they both went to bed, and why did they not take Hali too? Why only Max? And sure enough, Hali would had to have heard at least something.
So, maybe that wasn't it. She checked everywhere she could possibly be in the hotel room. Under the beds, sink, even the drawers, heck, even the toilet! But no, she was nowhere.
The lamp in the corner of the room scared the living hell out of her for a second, and she then just realized it was, indeed, the lamp.
She walked out of the hotel room in fear. It didn't seem like it would be a haunted hotel, because it was fairly new, but who knows? She walked really fast through the hallways anyway, and then she realized that she had to take the elevator. She made sure her phone was with her before she left, thank goodness, but she still felt scared out of her mind. She opened snapmap to see if she could detect Max's Bitmoji from the app. She checked it and looked. It said she and Max were in the same building, but they weren't appearing together. Max was near the lobby.
Although she was terrified, she walked into the elevator and pushed the first floor button as fast as she possibly could. She thought for a moment, then she checked the SnapMap again. With shock, she realized that Max was, indeed, in or near the building.
It said she was just active three minutes ago. Strange. Hali was delighted and joyful when the elevator's doors finally opened. She looked around the lobby. There were a few workers, and there was the person at the front desk. But there was no Max. She went to the person at the front desk. She looked at the name tag, which said, "Mrs.Agatha."
"How may I help you, young lady?"
Hali shivered. "Um, yes, have you seen a girl about my age walking around? We both went to sleep, and I searched my entire hotel room about ten minutes later and I can't find her at all."
Suddenly, before Mrs.Agatha could even speak, Max came up from behind her, eating plates and plates of breakfast from the hotel.
"Oh, hey Hali! I thought you were asleep!!!"
Then, Hali remembered.
Max's dad traveled for his work a lot, and she had borrowed his free breakfast privileges.
