My stomach growled for the billionth time. Another tear slipped down my face and before it could hit the floor it turned to ice and rolled away. I felt anger at my self. I had promised myself earlier that I would never cry again. I looked up at the ceiling and shivered. The whole room had turned to ice days ago. I..... Can't remember..... Wait yes I can!
Flash back
"Honey" my mother said. I looked up at her crystal blue eyes as she glared into mine.
" Momma? " I said looking at her. She started to cry.
"Don't look at me like that! this all your fault you know!" She said I looked at the ground because I knew what she was talking about. I was one of the kids the news was talking about. Recently there has been kids who can move earth or fire. Some can move air or ice as well. On my 5th birthday my mom took me camping. It was so much fun! She made a campfire and we sang and roasted marsh mellows. My mom tripped over a log and fell into me and I fell into the fire.
"Baby!" My mother had yelled. I Sat up and rubbed my head I was in a pile of frozen logs not burnt in the least bit.
We moved from our house and went into hiding. No matter where we hid the government kept finding us. looking for me. My father started doing drugs untill today when he finally gave up on life.
"Honey listen to me!" My mother said snapping me back into reality .
"I want you to go into the basement and don't leave untill I come and get you. Ok?" She said. She picked up her suitcase and opened the door. I just looked at her tears forming into my eyes.
" don't you dare cry! " she shouted suddenly "crying is for losers and whiners! Now go!" She said and pushed me a little. I turned and ran as I heard the door shut behind me. I ran across the house ignoring the pills and powder in zip lock bags. Ignoring the hanging body of my father from the ceiling. I ran untill I got to the stairs of the basement. I've always been scared of the basement but momma said crying is for losers so I ran down the stairs. When I got down I didn't bother turning on the light momma didn't like wasting electricity I tripped over a bottle and some kind of liquid. It poured out touching my skin.
"Uh oh" I whisper as the ground started to freeze pretty soon the whole room froze. I went to the corner and started to cry tears of ice.
Back to the present
My stomach growled again. I don't know how long I've been down here or how long it had been when I started to here people above me. They were calling out someone's name but I didn't know anyone by that name. Eventually I heard footsteps coming down the stairs.they sounded heavy like a man's footsteps. I curled up farther into the corner scared of whoever this could be. A man with a beard stomped down the stairs. He took out a flash light and looked around the area with it. He shivered and looked at the ceiling. He saw the lightbulb. And tried to turn the knob to light it but it wouldn't turn on because of the ice. I felt more tears run down my face. Before the first ice tear could hit the floor and alert the man of my presence I quickly caught them. I signed in relief.
"Huh?" The man grunted and turned in my direction . I gulped in fear he turned the flashlight in my direction and blinded me. I shielded my eyes with my hands and. Squinted at the man.
"Hey little boy. Don't worry everything is ok now." The man spoke gently . He turned to the stairs and yelled for the others to come down here and that he finally found me. I jumped up and made a dash for the door. The man turned just as I went between his legs and up the stairs.went I got to the main floor there were four other men there waiting for me. "Its ok it's ok." The men we're saying gently to me trying to calm me down. I ignored them and ran for the door. One man caught me by the arm but he quickly let go crying out in pain. His hand had turned to ice and the ice went half way up his arm.
" Useful" one man said. I ran to the door I made it out of the house and I headed for the woods that were by the house when I tripped over something and tell face first into my ice that now covered the floor to protect me from. The ground. I tried to get back up but my legs and arms were molded to the ground and I couldn't pull free. I kept struggling as I pull at the floor the men walk over to me with a little boy who looked at me and smiled.
"Maybe you should talk to him Ray your about the same age as him he might listen to you." The man with the beard said.
" ok" the little boy agreed and walked towards me. He squatted next to me.
"Hey your ok now. Can you tell me your name?" The boy said. I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out . The ground realised my feet then my hands and they flew to my throat.
"Hmmm you can't talk can you." The boy said. I shook my head.
" Are you a mute? " he asked me. Again I shook my head no.
"So this must be because of trauma. If this is true than we will get you talking up a storm soon so don't worry about it." The boy said and smiled . He stood up and held his hand out towards me.
"I'm Ray nice to meet you. We have come here to save you." Tears slipped out of my eyes and rolled in the ground as I reached towards his hand. I grasped his hand and he pulled me up.
