We glanced around with wide eyes. We all knew the 3 people who were gone. Patricia and Jimmy, who I will miss. But the last one, I wish I could have seen. Shane. That little bastard deserved it. "Hi sorry I'm late" Beth walked in. Shit. How are we gonna tell Beth that Jimmy and Patricia died? I looked around to everyone and not to my surprise they all looked at me. Which meant one thing, I had to tell Beth about Jimmy and Patricia. "Alright we're gonna have an adult meeting so all you kids out" Rick shooed Beth and I out because Carl was asleep, still injured.
"So why's everyone so sad?" She questioned confused. "A few people kind of.." I trailed off hoping she'd get the point. "Oh, who?" She asked with sadness filling her eyes, which were quickly refilled with happiness when I told her Shane was one of them. " He deserved it!" She punched the bedding on her bed. Not so shockingly, Shane actually tried to get with Beth. She obviously denied because she had a boyfriend and he was in his 30's but he almost raped her.
"But 2 more died" My heart broke with each word I said, every second I got closer to having to tell her. She waited for an answer. "Patricia and Jimmy" I quickly rushed out of my mouth, then pulled Beth in for a hug as she sobbed on my shoulder. Patricia was like a mom to her since her real one died. And Beth really liked Jimmy, she said she was pretty sure she was in love with him.
We stayed in that position til Carol came and knocked on the door. "Come in" I said. "Dinners re-" Carol stopped herself when she saw Beth. "Now baby, I know you miss them but crying doesn't bring them back does it? No it doesn't. Come downstairs and eat okay? You'll feel better" Carol grabbed Beth's hand for support. Beth nodded and got up but kept her head down as she walked downstairs. Dinner went by pretty quickly, and we all decided to head to bed after that considering it was around 9.
In the morning after breakfast we all decided i'd be good to have a funeral for the three. I, of course with Beth on my side thought we shouldn't have one for Shane who almost pushed Dale into a group of walkers to save himself. Dale, of course agreed with us on that one.
Us girls cleaned up breakfast, while the guys, not including Carl who Hershel said would be up tomorrow, but of course could come to the funeral, were taking the bodies and putting them into the holes they made while we were making breakfast, or in Beth and I's case sleeping. "Alright we're ready, everyone pick 3 flowers to put on their graves" Hershel told us walking inside. We nodded getting flowers. Beth got 4 flowers, I don't know why, and I got 2 flowers, because I don't think Shane deserved one.
"May these 2 wonderful people, live peacefully in Heaven, while Shane rots in Hell, Amen" Hershel ended, making all of us crack up laughing for a good 5 minutes. Everyone went to place flowers on Patricia and Jimmy's graves but i looked over and saw nothing but one flower, placed by Rick on Shane's grave.
I sighed and grabbed 3 flowers and give one to Beth and one to Carl. They looked confused. "I hate the son of a bitch but look, there's only one flower from your dad Carl" I pointed towards it, where Rick was trying to hold back his tears while Lori was hugging him. We all quietly scurried over to his grave. Everyone gathered around confused at what we're doing. "Okay, um so I really didn't like you but you were kind of funny sometimes, so I guess I'll miss that" I sputtered out of my mouth throwing the flower onto the ground. Getting a laugh out of Daryl and Glenn. "After what you did to me, I really hated you and still do but no one likes you and didn't put flowers on your grave so here" Beth threw it down, making everyone laugh for a good few minutes. "What'd he do?" Hershel asked furious. "I'll tell you later" He nodded. "I didnt hate you, but I didn't like you. You showed me how to shoot a gun, even though my mom didn't like it" Carl smiles at his mom and she returns it as he plops the flower on the grave. Everyone clapped at what we did, and everyone did it to. soon Shane had just as many flowers as Patricia and Jimmy.
"You know squirt, you did a good thing. I know it was you, I saw you pull Beth and Carl over and gave them flowers." Daryl's voice echoed in the wide field. "It was nothing" I told him, hoping he'd go away. Don't get me wrong, I think of Daryl as a fatherly figure to me but right now I wanted to be alone. I think he got the hint because, I didn't hear anything. I turned around and he was gone. Beth's a strong person. She didn't shed a single tear throughout the whole funeral, I couldn't do that.
I heard someone else come outside but I didn't bother to look. "Eliza" Carl said coming to sit down. "Yeah?" I turned towards him. "Nothing, I was just looking for you" He pulled his knees up to his chest. "You know we haven't been able to have much best friend time, since this whole thing happened" He continued. I realized, he was right we haven't. So Carl and I caught up like old times it was great.
*Ricks POV*
I looked out the window and saw Liz and Carl sitting outside talking to each other. I smiled, remembering the first day they met, since then, they were stuck like glue.
*flashback*
It was Carl's first day of Pre-School and Lori was a complete mess. "What if he doesn't make any friends?" She fretted. "Calm down, he'll do fine, trust me" I smiled and kissed the top of her head. "What would I do without you Rick?" She looked me in the eyes. "I love you Lori" "I love you too"
"Hi I don't have anyone to play with, and obviously you don't either so wanna be best friends forever?" A girl with brown hair and bright green eyes came over to Carl. "Sure! I'm Carl" He replied. "I'm Elizabeth" The girl, Elizabeth said. " Thats too hard to say, I'll call you Eliza!" He smiled. "Most people call me Liz" She stated. "Well, then I'll be the first to forever call you Eliza!" She giggled and they went to play with blocks.
"See? Been here 5 minutes and the boy's already got a friend" I told Lori. "They're gonna be friends for a long time, I can tell" She smiled at them. "I doubt they'll stay friends the day" I agrued. Although she ignored it.
From that day forward they became best friends and 9 years later here they are.
*End of flashback*
I smiled at the memory. Back then me and Lori never fought with each other. I overheard Carl tell Glenn he likes her, and I think she likes him too. Although in my opinion, they should stay friends, instead of date because if they date, then break up it'll be awkward. But I'm most certainly not going to object to them dating.
I'd prefer Carl with Liz, then someone else, I don't know.
