i woke up to my alarm the next morning. it was already Monday, meaning school was today. i didn't hang out with my neighbor, whos name i learned is ashton, too long last night. we walked home in silence after the first conversation.

i dragged myself out of bed and turned on my light. the light blinded me and I had to squint to see properly. since I had black curtains the room was always dark and i liked it like that.

I got ready for the day leaving my long brown hair down and wearing just black skinny jeans and a black shirt with my jacket.

i walked downstairs as the door was closing assuming it was my dad. he usually goes in later on Mondays.

"im ready." i told my mom in a bored voice

"walk." she told me shortly

"what? walk?" I almost shouted

"I just painted my toenails. walk Jessica." she said and went upstairs walking funny trying not to touch her toes to the ground.

I stood there slightly stunned. i would just walk and get over it but the school was an hour away on foot. I had to be at school in 15 minutes. i guess im going to be late.

I walked out of the house with my heavy book bag and looked toward my long journey ahead.

i started walking through Ashton's yard and then got knocked over out of no where and ashton was on top of me as I'm fighting for air.

"get off!" I said with strain

"oh my god I'm so sorry" he tried to apologize and he picked up his folder

"it's fine" I sighed "why are you in such a hurry?" I asked

"School" he laughed

"you walk?"

"nah but my mom was sleeping and I didn't want to wake her and I'm grounded from my car" he smiled and began to walk as did I

"cute" I mumbled but I think he caught it

"you walk?" he aske after a while

"not really but uh felt like it today" I lied

"who just feels like walking ?" He asked like I was crazy

"some people do" not me

"shouldn't we hurry? we are going to be late.. really late" he said but continued at a slow pace

"were already late might as well be really late" I looked up at him and he nodded a bit

"but if you'd feel more comfortable running be my guest" I told him and he looked horrified

"I'm not one to run willingly"

"being late doesnt look so bad now does it?" I quirked an eyebrow

"it looks pretty good to me" he sighed and walked a little more relaxed

----------------------------

we were about an hour late to school. we didn't talk much the whole way. once we got to the school he went to the office and got a late pass. i didn't. i figured I'd just ditch the rest of the day if my dad asked me about it then I'd just think of some stupid excuse later. that's if he is even home to get the call.

I've ditched before its nothing new. I never usually got in trouble since my mom answered the call and she couldn't care less.

"aren't you getting a pass?" i heard from behind me.

"no I'm good." I said not bothering to turn around. I already knew who it was.

he caught up with me and stopped in front of me.
