chapter one: the move

"Are we there yet?"
"Since the last two seconds you asked? No."

Benjamin whines as he throws his face into the pillow on the couch to which Veronica just rolls her eyes.

This conversation has occurred what seems like every ten minutes as the young ten year old has gotten bored over the eighteen hour drive from Texas to Michigan.

Veronica sighs as she closes her drawing book and walks around their decently sized R.V. as her muscles are starting to get tired of the ride.

She walks up to where her Dad is driving and plops into the seat next to him.

"How far is left Dad? Will we be stopping soon because Ben is getting a bit restless"

"We have about three more hours until we get to the new house sweetie. But we will stop and find a place to park for the night since it's getting dark."

Veronica's father is a decent looking man who is slightly tall with shorter peppery hair. As Veronica looks at him she can tell he is more tired than he is letting on and relief washes over her as he pulls off at the rest stop.

Ben excitedly runs up front, "We're here?!?!" He speaks before getting a disappointed look recognizing yet again another rest stop.

Gerald parks then looks up at his son. "Ben do you want to go with your sister to confirm to the pack here that we will be staying on their land tonight while I start supper?"

Ben excitedly runs out of the R.V. and Veronica follows him with a small smile.

After stepping out, Roni ties up her long bleach blonde hair into a loose pony tail and follows her brother letting him lead the way. They know the drill.

Ben waits until he reaches the woods to shift into his light copper wolf and Veronica soon follows suit into her all but white wolf with light gray tipping her ears and tail.

They go for a run in the direction of the pack house until a Male pack wolf approaches them.

"State your business."

Veronica speaks up as Ben stays to the side behind her. "We are here to inform your alpha that the Platts family, my self, brother, and father, are here to confirm our permit for staying the night to pass though your territory. The alpha knows about our plans to leave in the morning."

The male mind links his alpha to confirm such and lets them leave.

As Veronica and Ben head back to the R.V., Ben looks at his sister "Why do we have to always check in Roni?"

"Because if not they could very well attack us thinking we are rogues or trying something against their pack."

"Will we have to do that at our new pack?"

"On the first day we will tell them about the confirmed transfer from our last pack to theirs. Then we will stay at the pack house."

Ben wags his tail excitedly and runs circles around his sister leisurely walking. "Aren't you excited to make new friends and find your mate when you turn eighteen?"

Roni sighs, "I don't know, it's going to be a big change from Texas but hey let's make the best of it"

Roni has always dreamed about a mate but now that her birthday is approaching in a month she is generally getting nervous.

The two get back to the R.V. to be greeted by their Dad and their supper. As they eat Roni can't help but pick at her food as her appetite hasn't been the same since she's been on the road. Ben on the other hand has no trouble at all digging into both his and her food since he's a growing boy. She hugs her Dad around the shoulders and dismisses herself going back inside the R.V..

She never expected to move but she knew her Dad could only take care of them so much while being a pack doctor. His profession aided in transferring to another pack. Her mother passed away when her brother was born and her dad finally decided that a new area would be a good change for all of them.

She steps into the bathroom and glances in the mirror. Her light brown eyes stare back at her and she smiles faintly reminded of her mother's eyes. Ben got her father's blue eyes and mother's dark brown hair.

Roni strips down and takes her shower before laying down in her bottom bunk bed before pulling out her phone and texting her best friend from Texas.

Her brother and father eventually trickle in for the night and soon enough everyone is settled for bed and rest for the journey ahead.

Chapter one is done, I'm proud of you for making it this far :) hoping to update sooner rather than later and planning to switch to Roni's POV for majority of the story. These are my characters and my story, the pictures are taken from the internet and I do not own any pictures.
