Standing there's was a girl up to my shoulders in height. Her eyes where a dark crystal blue, with light freckles splashed across her cheeks and nose bridge, with a light touch if makeup. Her geeky glasses fit snug on her nose as her fringe framed her face perfectly. Her hair was brown towards the bottom, but blonder as it goes up. A strange combination, but it suits her perfectly. She's kinda pretty, I've never seen her around before. If my heart wasn't still shattered, I might definitely have a crush, but I feel no spark.
"What are you starting at?" I spat, a bit more harsh than I planned.
"O-oh, I'm sorry." She replied and walked to the sink, washing her hands. I was still there picking the shards out of my arm.
Once she was done, she was heading for the door. Yey, finally I'm alone- and she turns around, great.
"Do...do you need any help?" She asked. What? why is she wanting to help?
"What? Why?" I asked, careful not to sound harsh.
"Why not? Doesn't anybody else?" She asked in confusion. She's definitely new.
"Not one person," I replied like it didn't matter.
"Do you have any friends?" She asked, carefully.
"Nope," I answered truthfully.
"Don't your family help you?" I snarled at this question. Family is my most sensitive topic.
"I don't have one," I replied emotionlessly.
"Then who is your guardian, if you don't mind me asking?"
"My- what is supposed to be my step dad. My mum is dead. My dad is dead." I replied coldly.
For a while I heard nothing, until something warm wrapped around my waist. I look up at the mirror to see- I haven't even asked for her name! Anyway, I find her arms wrapped around my waist. They are touching the scars on my stomach, but it doesn't hurt. It's almost comforting.
"I'm so sorry. . ." She says, head burried into my back.
"What is your name?" I asked.
"I'm Mia, what's your name?"
"Sam," I replied in almost a whisper.
There's was silence. But a comfortable silence.
"Did you do anything bad?" Mia asked curiously.
"No. Well, in a way.." I admitted.
"What did you do?" She asked in a slight whisper.
"It's not what I did. It's what I am." I was silent for a bit. Would she accept me if I was? Why do I care if she accepts me, she will find out sooner or later. "Im gay," now I don't care. She'll leave, avoid me in the halls and never speak to me again, it's what always happens.
She. . started laughing? "Your not being serious right? All this shit is happening just because you gay?" She asked in disbelief.
"Well, yeah?" She's confusing me now.
"Damn this city must be really homophobic, well I'm gay too." She replied with a smile, showing off her adorable dimples.
"Seriously?" I asked. Maybe I can finally have somebody to relate to!
She retrieved her arms from me.
"Yas ma'am!" She stood proud, grinning like it was an achievement. That made me smile- how it's not effecting her life negatively. "I'm new here as you have probably gathered, would you like to be my friend?" She asks like she's a child."Only if you want school to make your life hell. I suggest you keep your distance," I reply as I put my hoodie back on. I started heading for the door when she grabbed my arm, causing me to stop. Damn it can't she see this is for her own good?
"Please! I don't wanna be lonely in this big school," she said with a frown.
"If you hang out with me you'll be more alone, go find some other friends," with that I pulled out of her grip and made my way to my class, just as the bell went.
