It had been ten years since Leo had signed his Declaration; ten years since Longevity+ had been released, and ten years since England divided in two; TLA East (or Authorities East) and The Underground West. Leo remembered the day he received his first dosage of Longevity+ perfectly. He woke up that morning, showered and made breakfast for him and Ammirys downstairs. Whilst Ammirys wolfed her waffles down with gusto, Leo had scooped up the post and sat down at the kitchen table to read the letters. Lots of post had arrived that day; mostly bills, and as Leo chucked letter after letter on the floor, he suddenly saw it; a factory-white envelope with the Authorities mark printed on the front. Inside, was a small white pill in a silvery plastic accompanied with something that looked like a microbit with a pin on the back and a note. Ammirys stared, inquisitive dark eyes wide. "I still can't believe you signed, Leo." She huffed. "Ammi; me, you, Malachai, we are three of the youngest people in the world," Leo had said. "It doesn't mean we have Opt Out." Grabbing the envelope, Leo rushed upstairs, walked into his bedroom and shut the door behind him.
Unfolding the note, Leo had read:
Mr L. Van Der Woodsen,
Welcome to the new stage of Longevity. As a noble member of the AE, I am proud to introduce to you the all new Longevity+. The benefits of Longevity+ consist of the following features; young skin cells, healthy active muscles and many more, as well as giving the gift of immortality...
Leo had skimmed the rest of the letter until his eyes caught the word Heartbit. Consequently, he read back a few lines...
Longevity+ includes the compulsory usage of our new product, Heartbit. Your Heartbit is to be worn always on the left of your shirt or jacket as it monitors your heart rate. Next month, you will be sent, with your daily dosage, your Heart rate Diagnosis. You will need to remember this, as every form, app, company etc... under the influence of the TLA, shall ask you for your HD. It is obligatory that any username that you have or create must include your HD at the end. You will receive a new Heart rate Diagnosis every six months for future tests the TLA may want to do. Thank you.

The month that Leo received his HD, the Authorities announced the new change of lifestyle that came with Longevity+. They used the small white pills as an excuse to order the residents of the East Side about; the Authorities knew that people would be slaves to the TLA as long as they control Longevity doses. Longevity is what the they rely on.
