A Demonic Hope

Chapter 1

I stood in the kitchen, glaring at my father. He had recently been reprimanding me about my trips to the darker side of town. I had been exploring the labs that were near there. Apparently that side of town was forbidden.

"I don't care what your 'rules' are! I'm 20 years old! I can take care of myself!"

"Jax you may be 20 but you live under my roof and you will learn to obey me. I have these rules for a reason. To protect us"

"From what?!"

"From the demons! That was a demon lab you were exploring!"

"So?! I don't care!" My hands are balled into fists now "I'm out of here!" I turn and storm out of the house. I know Cece is watching me out of her bedroom window but I don't care. I storm off towards the dark side of town

I'm wandering around late at night, still upset about my row with my father. My family has always avoided this side of town. This is where the demons hang out. I don't realize where I've wandered so I'm not as scared as I normally would have been. I walk in the dark for a while, only stopping when I run into someone.

"Sorry" I mutter, looking up at the guy. My eyes widen as I see a man before me. This man wasn't human. He had red eyes. a red-ish glow to his skin, and his hair was literal fire. This man was a fire demon.

"It's totally fine dude!" The man smiles brightly

I start slowly backing away

"Where are you going?" He tilts his head to the side "I won't bite"

"A-are you sure?"

"Positive! I'm Kasai!" The man, who looks to be 22, holds a hand out. Kasai looks ecstatic

"J-Jax..."

"Nice to meet you Jax! What you doin' out here at this hour? Personally I'm waiting for a friend but he's not showing up. He's probably asleep" He talks very fast so it's hard to understand

"I-I had a fight with my dad..."

"Oh...That's always rough. What was the the fight about?"

"Demons...Specifically me exploring demon labs. I thought I heard someone screaming inside one of them"

"Oh? That's kinda scary. Though also intriguing! We can explore it together! Though we'll need others to help us. Hmmmmmm. Who else could help?" Once again, Kasai is talking very fast. So fast I can barely understand a single word

"I mean...we can look around. I'm sure there are others around here...."

"Of course there is! This is a normal hangout for demons! Lets go!" Kasai grabs my wrist and starts dragging me. We enter an alleyway and look around. We were so busy looking for someone that we run into someone. Next thing I know I'm soaking wet, on the ground with Kasai next to me, completely dry, and a woman pointing a pocket knife at me
