Prologue
You're an idiot. That snarky, but familiar voice filled my head. You're a total freaking idiot. I scowled. My inner backbiter strikes again. I was in the middle of an unfamiliar room, staring at an unfamiliar floor, hearing the laughs of unfamiliar students. It was my first day, my first step into a new classroom, and I managed to screw it up royally. Sighing, I picked my clumsy self up off the floor and trudged toward my seat. Smooth. Backbiter sneered at me over her cat eye glasses. Not even a single comeback? Girl, from this day forth your social life is fu-
"Hey....you okay?" A guy with sympathetic eyes gazed at me, concerned. What a load of bull. As if I'd fall for that one. Smiling tightly I looked up at him, staring him down.
"I'll survive." Then I turned abruptly and began to rumage through my pack for my notebook. To my surprise, when I returned, sad eyes was still there, gazing at me uncertainly. I raised a brow. Most of these idiots that harass me would've found fresh meat by now. "Uh...you need something?" Blushing, puppy eyes looked down at the ground. "Nope," he answered, "just making sure you're ok." I looked him over frowning, then looked towards backbiter.She peered at him, scowling, looking over every detail. He's decent, she finally murmered, returning to her study of the rest of the students.
That was the first day I ever met Luke, four years ago on my first day of seventh grade. Since that day, we were, and still are, inseperatable. I just hope we can stay that way.
