   SHURI'S POV

As Brother was informing me of his current standing with Nakia, something hit me and it was not a good feeling. Y/N wasn't here and it was very unlike her not to be here. Annoying T'Challa was our thing and I hadn't seen her not once today.

  I interrupted T'Challa by asking him,"Where's Y/N?"

He smirked at me and I hit his shoulder saying,"T'Challa, now is not the time for that. I just need to be a best friend right now. Where is Y/N? She's normally here by now."

T'Challa turned and said,"No one knows her better than you do, Shuri. You'll figure it out. I must go see Nakia."

He squeezed my hand, before he exited the room. I began to think of all the possible places Y/N could be, yet there was nothing that I could pin down to one place. That was until I remembered how distant Y/N was the other day, and I looked over at T'Challa's suit. Wait, what day was it? When I saw what day it was and looked back at T'Challa's suit, I realized what could have caused Y/N's absence today.

I quickly put down my tech and rushed to where I knew Y/N would be. Sure enough, I was right. There Y/N was, down on her knees and sobbing very loudly.

I knelt down beside her and she sniffed saying,"H..Hey, Shuri. I'm sorry I wasn't there. I'm sure T'..T'Challa is still ugly. I just wanted to come here today. Be..Be with  my mother."

I noticed how badly shaken up she was and slowly reached over to hold her hands. She let me and asked me,"Why..Why couldn't I have been there?"

Y/N lost her mother in the past attack on Wakanda when Klaue had set destruction to our lands. There were many people in Wakanda who had lost family that had been here for a very long time. Sometimes, that rage could really break someone down. For Y/N, she tried to hide it, but it was there with her grief every single day.

Right now, she needed me and I had to be there for her, just like I would be for my family.

"You couldn't have known, Y/N. No one saw it coming and there was no way you could have seen it either. All you can do now is cherish what your mother was and try to make her proud. You have people here who love you and need you to continue to fight for Wakanda. T'Challa told me himself that he needs you around."

She gazed over at me and said,"He did? Why can't he do it himself?"

I laughed saying,"This is T'Challa we are talking about. He needs us, Y/N. I need you."

She smiled at me and let go of my hands, before she hugged me so tightly. I was afraid she would squeeze me to death, but I let her have her moment. She needed this hug just as much as I did. I did not want to let go because she was my best friend. I was not letting this best friend go.
