Bite (KPOP)

//~ Prologue ~\\

I can still remember the first time my pack had come across Kate. We were on border patrol, checking the territory surroundings, it was Vanny and I who had found the young child. She was crying, wrapped in a dirty, blue cotton blanket, her skin cold as ice.

"It's a mortal..but why is it here, alone? In the woods?" Vanny turns to me with a concerned expression.

I paused for a moment, staring at the child, it had stopped crying. She had these big, beautiful brown eyes that glittered, a smile had climbed onto her face. How was it so happy, when it had been abandoned? My stomach twists in frustration, shaking my head.

"It needs to come with us.. we can't leave it out here.. the wolves will come and get it.." I lean down, scooping up the child in my arms, holding it close to my chest.

"Bring a mortal?! Have you gone insa-"

"I didn't stutter.." I glare at Vanny, turning, retreating back to the house.

The walk was silent, besides the occasional sound the child would make from time to time. With the mansion in view, I feel a sort of pressure release off of my chest. Finally, we're home. I push past the large, heavy doors, entering slowly, the child held close to me, keeping her warm. Vanny enters in soon after me, closing the doors behind us. Immediately, the other members of the pack enter the room in curiosity of the new scent that came along with us. The first to approach was Mads.

"What is that..?" Nate asked from afar.

Mads glances at Vanny, to me, then the child, her eyes widening in disbelief. She backs away.

"We can't keep that..that.. THING.. here.." she spat in a sort of anger.

I back away quickly, keeping the child away from her, my eyes narrowed. Nate and Kim, who kept their distance were now walking over to see the child.

"If they find out you brought a mortal into this house.. they'll kill us.. and the mortal..." Mads was boiling in anger now.

Disregarding her, I push past the crowd and make my way towards the family room, sitting by the fireplace, criss crossing my legs, looking down at the child as it looks back up at me, I smile gently. Hopefully the fire would warm the child up a bit. I could still hear Mads and the others arguing in the other room, approaching steadily. Rolling my eyes, I grab the pillows off the sofa, making a sort of bed, placing the child down gently, causing it to giggle. I stand up, crossing my arms.

"You're making a dangerous move bringing that thing here.." Mads said, growling lowly.

"That thing..is a child. She was cold, and hungry. I won't let her get eaten by the wolves." I respond cooly.

"You should've left it where you found it.." Nate spoke up suddenly.

I glare at him, causing him to back away steadily, back by Vanny and Kim, turning my attention back to Mads.

"You're supposed to be the leader of this pack..and you're not acting like it..you should be doing what's best for the PACK.. not some random Mortal.. thing.." she snapped at me.

I shook my head, turning away, when I see something coming at me from the corner of my eye. Quickly, I put my hand out, catching a fist. I turn slowly, Mads glaring at me, her eyes a blood red color. My grip tightens slightly.

"As the leader..may I remind you..YOUR leader as well..you should also respect my decisions..the child leaves once it's good to be on it's own..I'll bring it to civilization myself.." I let go of her fist, turning and walking away.

I pick up the child, and head upstairs to my room, placing her down on my bed. Shes smiling and laughing, and I can't help but smile back.

Even with the conflicts of the other members of the pack, I kept the child until she was strong enough to be brought back into the world where she belongs. Yet, not all things go as planned.

You see, when I brought her, no one had seen her before. It was as if, she never existed in their world in the first place. Maybe it was a sort of destiny that brought her to our world instead. That walk back to the mansion, I look down at the child, the same smile on her face, I chuckle.

"Don't worry.. I won't abandon you.. I'll name you.. Kate.."

"You're one of us now.."
