The Perfect Duet Fanfic Entry

After 5 years

"Birdy? Have you seen my guitar?" Dylan asked as he went inside Mackenzie's dressing room where she was still changing. She looked at him with wide eyes, blushed then pulled her dress up and over her head quickly while Dylan just turned away and covered his eyes. (You know those dresses that you can't wear any way else except for fitting it over the head? well yeah its like that)

"Is it safe now Mackenzie?" he asked, not daring to take a peek, he respects her too much to do that.

"Um y-yeah." she said nervously, looking at everything but him when he turned around. When she did look up all she saw was Dylan's slightly reddened cheeks. They couldn't turn away from each other, their eyes were capturing each other in a moment that neither of them want to escape.

Slowly he walked to her until they were only centimetres apart. Mackenzie blushed at the close proximity and looked down but she didn't step away. He noticed and used his finger to lift her chin up, "Don't hide from me Birdy especially when that cute little face of yours is tinted with red." He starts leaning down and instantly Mackenzie closes her eyes, waiting for the moment when his soft lips are placed on hers.

Their lips were an inch away from each other when they heard a cough. Mackenzie quickly jumped away from Dylan while he had a tiny and annoyed smile tugging at the edge of his lips. "Kiss blocker much, Flora?"

Flora was standing in the doorway with a knowing grin splayed on her lips. "Well I'm sorry Mister Stone but Miss Heart here is needed by her parents, but don't worry, I'll give her back to you. Oh and you two look cute with matching red outfits and matching red faces." Mackenzie blushed even harder, if that was even possible, when both of them laughed.

She was then led away from the dressing room and into the tiny hall where all the families of the contestants can watch as they awaited for their relative to go up on stage. Her parents were waiting for her there and for the second time in her life, she saw them happy and proud. The first time being the one when Mackenzie and Dylan won Sing USA.

"Oh Mackenzie! We haven't seen you in such a long time I hope they are taking care of you here. Are you behaving yourself? Have you been doing your university studies? Mackenzie Heart if I even get so much as an e-mail that says you've been failing, I will pull you out of your judging job or whatever it is you do here in Sing USA myself." her mom ranted. Mackenzie just laughed, even her dad did which she was very surprised about.

"Mom! Breathe in, breathe out. I'm fine and you don't need to worry about anything, besides I'm graduating this year and you will be rest assured that your daughter will graduate with the highest honors." and with that Mackenzie was pulled into a bone-crushing hug.

"I'm so proud of you Mackenzie." her mom said. "Well don't leave me out of this." her dad piped in. They laughed and hugged for a few more moments before the stage director had to advice Mackenzie to prepare for this year's Sing USA grand finals.

She waved goodbye to her parents and was then rushed to a dark room where the only thing she could see was the screen that showed the stage. She felt a warm hand over hers and smiled, she knew who it like the lyrics of an old love song.

"Are you ready for this Birdy?"

"Ready as I'll ever be."

(I was gonna stop here but I didn't want to xD)

They both looked up at the screen as they waited for their introductions.

"I welcome you the couple who has gone through trials, heart breaks, fun times and never ending trials during their time here in Sing USA. A lot of you might know this power couple from fanfics, tumblr posts and tweets on twitter but here they are now, ready to perform a duet for you. MACKENZIE HEART AND DYLAN STONE!!!"

They held hands as they walked across the stage, earning loud shrieks from the crowd. "Um Hi everyone. I'm Mackenzie."

"And I'm Dylan." Dylan piped in. They got a lot of 'I love you Mackenzie!'s and 'I love you Dylan's from the venue, making them both smile from nostalgia.

Dylan grabbed the mic, "It feels like it was only yesterday when I was persuading Birdy here to come and consider auditioning with me for Sing USA five years ago. We didn't know each other, we were exact opposites actually. We never talked to each other and if you would've told me that I was someday gonna sing with her and that she will be the love of my life, I would've punched you in the face." Everyone laughed while Mackenzie's eyebrows perked up in interest.

Now it was Mackenzie's turn to grab the mic, "I have chosen this song for us because it was the exact reason as to why we are even standing here in front of you. It was a shame that we didn't get to sing it during our time here but now here it is."

The beat picked up and Dylan suddenly kissed her smack on the lips, making the people scream. "Thank you for choosing this. Thank you for considering auditioning with me that day."

She lost herself in his eyes but then had to get a hold of herself when she heard her part come on.

I don't like walking around this old and empty house.

Now it was Dylan's turn. So hold my hand, I'lll walk with you, my dear. All of their memories from the show replayed in their minds and Mackenzie had to blink back tears.

(You get the point) And as they were finished the last line, they looked deep into each other's eyes and smiled at each other lovingly.

Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.

"I love you Birdy."

"I love you Cuddle Bug."

I hope the author likes my entry for The Perfect Duet because I sort of did like an ending or like a far away chapter.

I feel so embarassed cuz the first song they actually sang was "use somebody..." and not little talks. Awkward yes I know but it's a fanfic so I can change some of the details a bit and besides, I really like that song.

Did you see what I did there in the cover :3 It reminded me of Chapter 39 which is my favourite chapter because they went star gazing and dylan became all cute and deep and yeah xD
