I'm Going On Tour, Apparently

It was about two o'clock on Tuesday when I got the call from my manager. I was going to be opening for One Direction on their world tour, which started in 3 days. That gave me so much time to prepare. (Sarcasm intended) I grabbed my black and white suitcase out of my tiny closet in my small apartment. I was pretty excited, I suppose. I had never been on a tour other than my own before.

So now that you know I've been on tour, you're probably wondering why I live in a small apartment. Well, let me explain something to you. I got a record deal at age 16, as a junior in high school, and I really liked my private life. So my management company agreed to my idea, which was kind of a little Hannah Montana sort of thing. I wore a mask (like a superhero) on stage.

That was pretty much the extent of my plan, but Tess, the person from the company that I mainly talked to, pointed out that with the technology these days, fans could easily just take my skin tone and use photo shopping apps to find my real face. I decided to do something that would steer attention away from me in particular, if they did.

I put a blue color contact in one eye, and a green in the other. People wouldn't suspect a girl with brown eyes to be the same as a girl with a blue eye and a green eye. Tess agreed to that.

It would also be a little strange, as well, if some random girl was living in a mansion, so to stay inconspicuous, I decided to stay at my parent's house until I was 18, and then move to a small apartment. I really preferred this, as mansions are not my style. My apartment is simpler and more, well, me. I know that sounds cheesy, but it's the truth.

Anyways, I started putting stuff in my suitcase. I managed to fit 2 weeks' worth of outfits in it. (It's a big suitcase) I then realized that I would also need a wardrobe for Jenna J (my stage name) for when I was performing. So I called up the management company, and they said they'd take care of it.

I then packed another bag, with two more weeks' worth of outfits in it. I figured I could just wash my clothes nine times, or once a month. I had practically packed half of my wardrobe. I mean, I really didn't own that much.

I'm pretty sure the reason I got such late notice was because their other opener cancelled, and it was a known fact that I could scrap a great performance together in a very limited amount of time, although sometimes it consisted of me just doing a one-woman version of a musical on stage. But that's beside the point.

Now, you see, I never went on tour without my best friend, technical engineer, and hair and makeup stylist, who all happened to be the same person. I realized that I had to let Trinh know, so she had time to pack. So I opened my apartment door, walked about four steps to the left, and walked into Trinh's apartment.

"Trinh!" I yelled.

"What?!" came a muffled, groggy voice from her bedroom.

"We're going on tour!" I said, as I entered her room. She was lying on her bed, and it looked as though she hadn't gotten up since last night.

"What? But we just got back from the last one," she complained, even though we both knew that she loved going on tour. We got to travel and see the world, which had been our dream since we were freshmen in high school, when we first met.

"Trinh, that was two months ago," I laughed.

"Exactly, we just got back!" she stretched, and accidentally rolled off the bed. Soon we were both on the floor, me from laughing, and her because she was too lazy to get up.

Trinh was practically my twin, except that we were quite different in appearance. She had fabulous purple hair. It was always down, or in a half up-half down style.

My hair, on the other hand was brown and always in a ponytail.

I'll admit, I had always wanted to dye my hair green, though. Basically, Trinh was the kind of best friend you read about in books, or saw in rom-coms.

I grabbed Trinh's orange suitcase out of her closet, and found that it was already packed.

"Oh, I always keep that packed for tour," she said. "Whenever I find something I really love, I just buy two and put one in here. So I just have a suitcase full of cute on tour, vacation, or whatever with."

"That makes sense I should start doing that," I said, and made a mental note.

For the next day and a half, Trinh and I binged Bones and Sherlock (which wasn't too hard to get through) whilst eating popcorn.

At 2 on the second day, we hopped on an airplane. Even though I travel often, flying always makes me a bit nervous. It was all over six hours later, and we were in Manchester, where we checked into the hotel. We lounged by the pool for a little while, then decided to go upstairs and read a little. I was reading The Fault in Our Stars, while Trinh was working on Paper Towns. They both were amazing. I absolutely love John Green. (I mean who doesn't???)

The rest of the day, and the night passed without anything particularly interesting happening. It was the next day that would be fun. We had to wake up early, so we decided to go to bed around ten. I was quite nervous for this whole thing, seeing as I'd have to perform. Performing always got me nervous. Yes, I've performed for two years now, but that doesn't make it easy. We really do be living that anxiety life.

I'd also have to keep my identity a secret from the people that I'd be living with for the next nine months. I love saying that. It makes me feel like a superhero.
