chapter four: dad

I start walking down the corridors looking for any indication of where the pack doctor could be. The hallways have nice wooded floors but the home is a maze. The likelihood of me getting lost seems more likely as I go.

I finally come across the medical wing and pop into one of the rooms where I see an older man making out with an older woman and I can't help but gasp.
"Dad?"

He breaks the kiss and looks at me having a huge smile on his face, "M-Mate"

The woman turns around to face me and she has a huge smile on her face. She has a familiar looking face. She had a short pixie cut with strawberry blonde hair that seems a bit tousled. Her eyes are a greenish shade and she can't help but keep her hands in dad's hair. She drags her hands from dad's hair down to his hands. 

"I am Cindy," she says breathlessly

"Uhm.. Roni," I say a bit confused about the situation and a bit creeped out.

She extends a hand smiling a bit too affectionate for my liking, "I'm your father's mate."

I look at my dad as he nods his head in confirmation smiling and I frown before nodding and leaving the room prepared to get lost again and be okay with it.

I mean I'm happy he found his mate but she is not my mom. I need time before I can just accept her as my mom. I keep walking through the corridors as I start thinking about mom and I can't help but start tearing up. I remember the day mom took me to her greenhouse.

//Flashback//

"Sweetie, do you want to help momma in the garden?"

I can't help but giggle and run after her in excitement. She never let anyone into her garden. Upon entering my nostrils are filled with the wonderful aroma of dozens upon dozens of flowers.

I ran around looking from flower to flower growing big and strong. My mom picked me up and held me in an embrace. "Ronnie, one day you're going to spring up and bloom into even more of a beautiful flower." She walks us around the entire evening telling me about all of her flowers and how special they all are to her. "But you are the best flower god has ever gave me."

//reality//

I was crying by this point. Mom would tell me that every night when she would tuck me in and put me to bed. My mother's love in flowers had rubbed off on me.

As I was deep in thought I ran into a strong chest and fell back onto my butt. I look up and come eye to eye to tall dark and brooding. He stares at me before I help myself up. I blink a few times then try walking past him before he puts his arm out to stop me. His deep uncaring voice makes me jump, "what are you doing in this wing?"

"I-I got lost I'm sorry," I say feeling immeadiately intimidated and I could feel the power radiating off of him.

"Are you the pack doctors daughter?" He asks rolling his eyes causing me to nod. He just growls out one single word to make me listen without question. "Follow."

He immediately turns and doesn't wait for me follow before walking back to the pack doctor's office. I can't help but stare at his back in his skin right black v-neck. His muscles were so intimidating. I hope I'm never on his bad side. "Name." He speaks sternly causing me to snap out of ogling him.
"Veronica Platts." He grunts in conformation.

Walking into the office, he sees my father and Cindy kissing and he doesn't say a thing and Cindy snaps out of it and bows to him put of respect. My father follows suit then sees me. I look away from my father and the alphas son glances at me then leaves.

"I need my medication," I say softly not looking at my father.
"I thought you would be happy for me," my father starts as he starts getting my medication.
"I mean I am but this lady is a complete stranger and even though you're fine now, I still miss mom." I say then take my medication from him. "I'm going back to my room. Ben made friends with Leon. My roommate is also nice. Night." I say before walking out of the room and shutting the door. I jump when the alpha's son is waiting right outside the door.

"W-wha--"
"I'll show you back to your room." He says gruffly and starts walking expecting me to follow again. I lower my head and mutter a small thank you. When we reach the door he stops, makes eye contact, then says, "his mate is the nurse and your roommates mother. You will be fine." Then he turns and walks away leaving me standing there with my mouth agape.

I shake off what he said. Why would he tell me. I enter my room to be attacked by Abi. She embraces me, "I CAN'T BELIEVE WE ARE GOING TO BE SISTERS!" she basically screams in my ear and I wince from the volume. "Sorry, I'm just so happy! I couldn't believe it when mom told me she found her mate--- and then told me who it was!!"

I faked a smile, "I know right, I'm glad we get to be even closer." I say not lying. I'm still not accepting her as my mom though. I strip down and change into pajamas and put my medication away. "What's the alpha's son's name?" I ask out of curiousity.

"Leon is the youngest and then Jace is the one close to our age... why?" She asks becoming interested

"Well I got lost and Jace guided me back. I was just curious is all."

"That's weird. That's not anything like Jace, are you sure you're thinking of tall dark and brooding?"

I nod then curl into my blankets "I must be mistaken." I whisper before she turns the lights off for the night. He was so nice and handsome and SNAP OUT OF IT. He is the alpha's son and you are not interested I truly try to convince myself of that. Besides. He probabaly already has a mate and it wont matter in a month when I turn the ripe old age of 18.  At least things are settling in and we have a stable home now. I launch up and freak out "I'll be back." I say to Abi as I run out and make my way upstairs to my brother's room. I knock then enter the room and about knock my brother over with a giant hug.
"Sis..  can't.... breathe..." I release and kiss his forehead. "I love you baby brother."
He frowns then mumbles, "you're embarrassing me..... I love you too big sis."

Leon smiles at the two of us and I go over and hug him and place a kiss on his forehead too. "Thank you for being so nice to my brother. If you ever need anything let me know."

I tuck them both in and kiss both their foreheads before saying goodnight and heading back down to my room to sleep.

When I enter I find Corey in bed with Abi, both of them are cuddled together and already asleep and I lay down letting out an exhale.

'One more month...'
