"Are you and Ben finished with your costumes yet?" Josh asked, a few of us hanging out in a hotel room. We had wrapped up our Philadelphia shows yesterday, and would leave for Cleveland tomorrow. Luckily, we had Halloween (today) off.

"Just about. He said he had to put some finishing touches on his. You?" I said. Ben and I had decided to go as Mary Poppins and Bert, which was the only idea that the two of us could actually agree on. (A/N: Thank you to everyone who suggested costume ideas- @Dayday041003 especially! Yall are rad)

"Finished mine last night," Josh said, wearing a proud grin.

"What are you going as again?" I ask.

"It's a surprise," Josh says, the same smug grin still plastered on his face. Everyone else in the room 'oooh's in suspense.

"This is gonna be good," I laugh. "Ava, how are your and Sky's going?"

Her face breaks into a smile instantly. "Really good! We finished them this morning after we got brunch."

"You guys got brunch?" I respond. She nods quickly. Josh and I share one of those 'ooooh' looks, both of us sipping on our coffees with our eyebrows raised.

"You guys!" She laughs, hitting Josh in the stomach with a throw pillow.

My phone buzzes, a reminder for a conference call I'm supposed to take in half an hour. Being the only one in the friend group with a non-acting job definitely had its downsides. "I've got to run guys, I've got a conference call soon... I'll see you all tonight, right?"

Everyone nods, saying their goodbyes to me. I give a little wink to Ava on my way out, probably making her blush all over again.

I find Ben in our hotel room, laying in bed and scrolling through his phone. "Have you even moved from that bed since this morning?" I laugh, grabbing my laptop.

He shakes his head no. "And it's been glorious." I chuckle, even though I knew he needed some extra rest. "What are you up to today?"

"I'm going to take a conference call real quick with some people from the theater in Baltimore. I'm hoping I can get you guys a spot to perform on Baltimore's most-watched morning show," I say, quickly pulling out my laptop to review everything before the call. Ben's face turned into a pout, and I look at him, confused. "What's wrong?"

He shrugs. "I just wanted to spend my day off with you, I guess," He says, the sadness in his voice breaking my heart. He looked like a sad puppy.

I sigh, making my way from our hotel room desk over to the bed where he was laying. I lay down with him, resting my head on his chest. "You know I'd rather spend my day with you than on some phone call, but someone's gotta make sure that the people of Baltimore know how awesome you guys are. And I'll be done in, like, half an hour, then we can get something to eat and start getting ready for the party tonight!" I say, making the smile return to his face. He kisses the top of my head, and I stay there for a few more minutes before returning to my laptop.

As much as I try to move things along on the call, things just seem to keep dragging on. Before I know it, it had been half an hour, then an hour, then an hour in a half. I grow more and more irritated by the minute, knowing that I promised to spend time with Ben. The disappointment is also clear on Ben's face (who still hasn't moved from our bed), but he just sits quietly and waits.

Eventually, after almost two hours, I'm able to hang up the phone. I sigh, leaning back in my chair. "Do my eyes deceive me? Are you actually off the phone?" Ben jokes, trying to hide his discontentment.
