Me: Looking forward to it :)
I glanced at her last text, love swelling up in my chest. She had called last night to tell me the news of her brother's death. I knew they were close, and the toll it was taking on her. Spending time with her would take her mind off of the recent happenings. At least, I hoped so.
kat<3: I'm outside rn. Can you unlock the door? I don't exactly have the ability to phase through it... lol.
Me: Lol, no problem. Be there in a sec.
I unlocked the door, pulling it open for my visitor. Katie stepped inside, shadowed by someone I didn't recognize. Before I could examine the guy, I was enveloped by a hug. I pulled Katie close, and she settled into my arms, burying her head in my chest. Stroking her hair, I asked who the man shadowing her was. She smirked and roughly pulled the hood of his sweatshirt down, revealing a familiar face.
"Shawn!" I exclaimed. He eyed me nervously, guilt evident in his eyes. Katie stood on the tips of her toes and whispered something in his ear to which he nodded. Opening his mouth to speak, I cut him off with a hug. We stood there together for a long length of time, not speaking.
A pang of jealousy shot through my stomach as I watched Katie whisper a goodbye to Shawn. I'd never experienced that, so why was I experiencing it now?
