I believe that dreams have always been the way of the sub-conscious to escape the box it is confined to in our day-to-day lives. They have the ability to put us front and center in the worlds that it wishes we were part of and tells the story of the heroes we wish we were. Stories very much have the same power, if we will let them. My favorite stories are the ones where the words come off of the pages and encompass the reader, taking them to wherever, or whenever they want to go.
This novel started as a dream, one that I still remember vividly in my mind. There is a scene in the book where two of the main characters engage in a high-speed chase and I can still remember the feel of the steering wheel gripped tightly in my hands. I can still hear the police sirens screaming and feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins. I can smell the hot California air and I cringe when remembering metal grind against pavement.
When I awoke, I put the dream in my journal and figured that would be the end. But, all day long I thought about it, and then the dream took up space in my head, blossoming with a life of its own as a journal entry became a chapter, then a chapter became three, three became ten and before I knew it, I was knee dip in a novel.
This draft has to be the twentieth time I have gone through the book. It still has many imperfections, as I have not paid an editor, and is an ever changing work in progress. I want to thank all of the friends and family members that have offered their time to read, critique and assist in making this story better.
I am an author that openly accepts feedback and suggestions. While this craft allows me to get things down on paper in a manner that is pleasing to a reader, it is one that can only grow when those that read help us to hone it.
I hope this story pulls you from whatever reality you are faced with and takes you to a place where you find solace and intrigue. It is one of self discovery, love, war, death....everything that one experiences in life and I hope that you, the reader, find a character to latch onto and root for.
Now, Dear Reader, I present book one of The Temporal Warriors Series: The Guardians of Time.
Safe travels.
