Chapter 4
I was surprised when I saw Brady standing in front of me with a huge smile.
"Alright. These are two of my three children. This one over here is Ashley and she's a tenth grader at Oak Island High and this one is Brady and he's a senior." She said, smiling.
"It's so nice to meet both of you." My mom said shaking both of their hands.
"I have another kid, but he goes to UNC. His name is Shane and he's a freshman this year." Alex said
"Oh, Nicole and Elliot's dream School is UNC." My mom replied.
"Yeah, Shane loves the campus. Well come on in and make yourselves comfortable." She said, motioning to go into the living room.
I sat on one of the couches with my mom and Elliot while Brady sat on an armchair. Ashley and Alex sat on the other couch.
"Well, we brought some housewarming gifts. Some flowers and cookies." My mom said, reaching to give the gifts to Alex.
"Oh, that's so sweet of you. Melissa, would you want to help me in the kitchen with some desserts and let the kids talk a bit?" Alex asked
"Of course! I would love to help." My mom replied
They left the living room and headed to the kitchen.
"So, how do you guys like Oak Island so far?" Elliot asked
"It's nice. I like the small town feel it has." Ashely replied
"Yeah, I love that about it." I added
"Hey, Ashley why don't you show Elliot pictures of where we used to live in Georgia." Brady said
"Yeah, follow me, Elliot." Ashley replied
They left the living room and headed towards the office.
"So, I didn't know you lived in this neighborhood." Brady said
"Back at ya." I said, laughing.
"Well, it will be nice to know someone at school." Brady said
"Yeah, you'll have to sit with us at lunch tomorrow." I said
"Yeah, that would be nice." He replied, "Well, could I get your number so if I can't find you I could text you?"
"Yeah, hand me your phone and I'll put it in." I said, smiling.
He handed me his phone and I typed in my number.
"Okay. Text me so I have your number." I said as I handed him back his phone.
"Okay. One second." Brady said
Just as I received his text, my mom and Alex came back into the room with a glass of red wine for themselves and my mom's cookies with some ice cream.
"Thanks, mom." Brady said
"No problem sweetie." Alex replied
Elliot and Ashley then came back into the room and sat back down on the couch.
"So, Alex and I decided it would be a great idea to have a dinner together. I suggested that we eat at the Country Club" My mom said, smiling.
"Oh, that should be really nice." I said
"Yeah, it will be fun." Alex said
We just talked about the best things to do in Oak Island. We also talked about taking a day trip together to visit Shane in UNC which would allow Elliot and I to take one last college visit before applying. My mom also invited them to come to my final's game for soccer this weekend.
