My eyes weren't focused. My vision was blurry, and I wasn't registering what Vladimir had said.

Dad?
No. My dad had been killed. The only man I knew as dad had been killed...

As in...

I blinked hard and pressed my head back on the table, trying to breathe through the wave of burning pain in my body. I felt like I was suspended in the air. My wrists and ankles were raw from the bucking against them, and I had lost any sense of shame at this point. I had over thirty people in this room, staring at my figure.

"Let the girl go and ill think about letting you live" the blue-eyed new comer said. I lifted my head against the weight with effort and looked at Lucas. His eyes were pained, never leaving me.

I'm sorry I mouthed

Lucas' eyes were on fire. I knew what he wanted to do but he couldn't move, or someone would open fire. The mere fact he was here gave me a sense of calmness. I could look at him and make sure he was alive.

"You really think after all I've been through to get her here, I'm going to just... let her go?" Vladimir asked laughing. Didn't he see the thirty something guns pointed at us?

"I don't think you're in the position of making any jokes right now, brother" the man said and Vladimir smiled then moved very slowly, and picked the scalpel up. My blood rushed to my ears and I tried to take a deep breath

A loud gun shot rang and the bullet hit somewhere near Vladimir's feet. He hissed but didn't seem like he got hit. My eyes met Lucas'

"Put the fucking thing down and step away from Emma" Lucas stepped forward slowly, his gun raised and aiming it at Vladimir. Monte moved with him slowly, backing him up

"Lucas, my boy. I thought your sense of loyalty was pristine" Vladimir said with a smile.

Lucas didn't even blink.

"Let the girl go, your problem is with me. So let's settle this the right way, man to man" the man next to Lucas said. Vladimir chuckled and looked over at the table, his hand going to his pocket.

"You see, here's the funny part about settling this. I told you what I wanted long time ago and you refused to give it to me. Now you're gonna pay for that" Vladimir nodded towards the door they had blown open and noise came from outside. Everybody looked as confused as we felt, and people looked around.

Steps and boots slapping came and echoed and a group of ten or so men walked right through those doors. My sister was in the middle of them, like they were protecting her.

She didn't care she was walking right through everybody. She had confidence they weren't gonna do anything to her. The blue-eyed man stared after her with a somewhat shocked expression

When she joined Vladimir on our side of the warehouse she turned and stared down at me, her eyes cold. The rest of the group in Vladimir side lined up behind the table I was currently strapped to, guns aiming back at The other party.

I couldn't believe this

"Hello, father" Mel turned to look at the man they kept calling our father. The man narrowed his eyes slightly, studying my twin.

"I wish we would've met under different circumstances, don't you think, Melody?" the man said, relaxing his shoulder like he didn't have a care in the world

"But whose fault is that, Salvatore?" Vladimir asked, and I swallowed hard

That was Salvatore? This is who he's been asking for this whole time? He had tortured me for hours asking where Salvatore was hiding as if I knew!
