"Grayyyy." I dragged out his name as I spoke into the phone.

"Well hello to you too, Syd" he replied from the other line.

"Are we doing an adventure today?"

"No, I think you were right the other day about trying not to overdue the entire adventure thing."

"What made you change your mind?"

"I've just been thinking about it lately. I still want to hangout everyday though. If that's cool with you?"

"Yeah, that's cool." I smiled softly to myself.

"Alright. Is it cool if I come over and we can just chill, maybe watch a movie?"

"Yeah..."

"Alright. Be there in a few."

I put my phone down and let out a sigh. The slightest awkward tension was still there between us, although I don't think Grayson felt it. The more I thought about it the more I realized I was catching feelings for Grayson, but I knew he didn't feel anything back, which made things awkward for me.

I knew I was stuck in the friend's zone. Only the slightest bit of hope that he felt the same existed. It would be nonexistent if he hadn't described the girl he liked. But I had a feeling inside of me that it was just a coincidence, however, I still had a feeling inside that I had a chance. I was quite conflicted in my own mind so I decided to just believe I was stuck in the friend's zone, just to be safe from more awkwardness. Grayson was a great friend and I couldn't lose him to stupid hormones.

. . .

"Spiderman: Homecoming okay? I mean there's Netflix, but Spiderman: Homecoming isn't on Netflix and I love this movie." Grayson grinned, shyly, as he held up a Spiderman DVD.

"Yeah. Spiderman's my favorite superhero." I smiled back as I sat down quietly at the couch.

"Alright, good..."

The awkward tension between us died out as the movie began to play, but none of us said a word, the only thing keeping away the awkward tension was the fact a movie was playing.

"Do you want some popcorn or anything?" I asked, trying to make sure he didn't feel uncomfortable, although he probably did.

"I'm fine" He replied politely as he smile lightly. "Hey, things don't have to be awkward between us because of the other day."

"I know I don't like how awkward it is."

"Come hug me!" A cheesy smile rested on his face.

"Okay, okay" I laughed lightly as I scooted over and gave him a side hug.

Afterwards the awkward tension dialed down, it was practically not there anymore. It was crazy how a quick hug just calmed down both of our nerves, like the physical contacted relaxed us.

Never mind. I was just getting to be a little delusional. I just shook off that thought and watched the movie.

My phone began to buzz from the end table next to Grayson.

"Oh, that's probably just Dallas. Can you grab that for me?" I asked Gray.

"Sure." He nodded before reaching over for it. "Spiderman with a heart emoji?" He laughed lightly as my jaw dropped slightly and my eyebrows furrowed. "Okay, I know for a fact Dallas' contact in your phone is not Spiderman with a heart emoji. He ain't no Peter Parker... and he's your cousin, their wouldn't be a heart emoji..." he slowed down as he began to pick up the pieces.

"I never changed his contact name

"It's fucking Parker?"

"Don't answer it. As a matter a fact throw the phone out the nearest window."

"Why the fuck is he calling you?!"

"How am I supposed to know?! We haven't spoken since April and that was when he texted me that pathetic ass apology!"

"I'm answering it."

"No, no, no, no, no, Grayson don't!" I spoke quickly.

He didn't listen, he answered it and put it on speaker.

"Why are you calling Syd?" Grayson answered the phone. By the tone of his voice it sounded almost as if he was trying to sound even tougher than he actually is.

"Uh, who's this?" Parker spoke from the other line of the phone.

"Sorry about that." I spoke quickly as I grabbed the phone, turned off the speaker mode, put the phone and got up, but I didn't leave the room. Grayson furrowed his eyebrows at me and folded his arms as he looked up towards me.

"Who was that?" Parker asked through the phone

"My friend."

"Okay, whatever. Where are you? I tried to stop by your house to give you flowers and apologize for everything and explain myself and why I went so MIA but you weren't there."

"It doesn't matter, Parker, I don't want to hear it." I spoke. Grayson was watching me like a hawk. He paid attention to every word I said, every move I made, every facial expression on my face.

"Sydney..." Parker breathed out.

"No, I'm serious I don't want to hear it. I'm over it and I don't need you trying to slither your way back into my life."

"Seriously, baby, I'm sorry, just hear me out. C'mon." As he spoke I cringed. I scrunched up my nose at the fact he called me 'baby'.

"Ten seconds."

"That's not enough ti-"

"9, 8, 7—"

"Okay, okay. I was a coward, I couldn't face the fact that I broke your heart, or the fact that breaking your heart caused the accident."

"Yeah, I kind of figured that out with the help of Grayson."

"Was that the guy that was-"

"Yeah, it was, actually. Don't say anything else. Please. Just leave me alone, okay Parker?"

Before he could say anything else I hung up.

"Next time I say 'don't answer', don't answer." I pleaded softly, hoping he would understand that I didn't want to talk to Parker at all.

"You should have let me talk to him, I could've told him off in two seconds."

"I could tell you were about to, but being violent through words would not be ideal."

"Well you should give me his address. I just want to talk, I swear"

"Haha, real funny, Gray." I smiled softly and shook my head.

"Okay, but seriously. If he bothers you, texts you, calls you, dm's you, emails you, rights you a letter, pays for a jet to write you a message in the sky, I don't care, if he tries anything, tell me. I don't want that fucktard bothering you, okay?"

"I can handle myself, Gray. I won't let him bother me."

"I know, I know. Just tell me so I know okay..."

"Alright." I nodded my head.
