"Mom! Look, I got 2nd place out of the whole school for the state test!"
A child runs up to his mother with a proud smile adorned on his face as he held the sheet of paper up. The woman looked at her son and gave a strained smile, "That's good, but we are the (L/n) family we aim for number one, (M/n). This is good, but not good enough please try harder." With that ending sentence the woman walked away from her child.
The child stood still as his watched his mother walk away with her back facing him.
'Not good enough.'
'(L/n) family.'
'Number one.'
It never mattered even if he tried his hardest. The only accepted result was number one, otherwise it's never good enough. And he tried his hardest it had been a week and he had retaken the state test, with a result he finally had.
'This time for sure! Mother would be proud!' the naive boy ran to his mother's room with his results and confidence. Knocking on the door before opening it the child peeked in, "Mother?"
The boy stood at the doorway with a shocked gaze...
His mother had a toddler in her hands and was smiling; it wasn't the fake smile he received everyday, but a true and genuine smile.
"Mother?" the boy spoke up, as his mother looked over at him with her smile becoming strained, "What do you need, (M/n)?" The boy walked over to his mother and showed his results, as his mother leaned a bit to gaze at the paper. She continued on with the strain smile, "That's very good! But, you need to know that you have to get number one on your first try right? This is a retake which means it's your second try. (M/n) remember we are number one. We are the (L/n) family. There aren't any chances you will end up having, it's number one or nothing. What you have now is nothing and remember you can't depend on anybody otherwise they'll become a leech."
The boy lowered his hand and looked down a frown placed upon his face, "I understand Mother..."
"Good, now go back to your room to study for the upcoming exam you have." his mother replied as she turned her back on him and comforted the toddler in her arms with her true smile.
Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study. Study.
That was (M/n)'s everyday life.
Locked up in his room with piles of textbooks littered around his room and papers everywhere with small notes decorating the walls (and even on the ceiling...).
While (M/n) was locked up in his room his younger brother lived the time of his life with a carefree attitude. The staff and his parents adored his younger brother, even the public. But, with all the spoiling it shaped his attitude into one of a two faced brat (or should I say the spawn of a devil).
It had been like this for as long as (M/n) could remember, now both (M/n) and his brother attended an elite high school.
With (M/n) as a Junior and his younger brother a Freshman. Everybody knew the two, as the famous (L/n) brothers whom despise each other. (M/n) was the top student in the elite school and the student council president. While his younger brother was a popular school boy with good looks who leeched off other students and had average grades.
(M/N) was the brains while his younger brother was the face of the (L/N) family.
Both were complete opposites you don't even need a genius to tell you that, even the 'lower' ranks knew that.
A/N: This is somewhat of a test... I had this idea pop into my head out of nowhere while I was doing my homework and I thought I'd make it into a somewhat story so.... here it is... but, remember it's a small test thingy I'm doing and it's rushed so meh ....
