"Excu-use me?" Cream Johnson stuttered out. His forest green eyes widened as he regarded the man sitting behind the expensive mahogany oak desk. He could not have heard him correctly. There was no way in hell-
"You heard me." He murmured. His steel grey eyes boring into his, his expression brooding " I won't repeat myself."
Cream just stared open mouthed, shocked into silence. He could not believe what he had just heard, there was no way his grandfather would have agreed to this.
"You're lying to me." He stated. Cream was almost certain this was a total scheme cooked up by his crazy stepmother; to get him out of her way.
Cream's mother died the day she gave birth to him, his father , Anthony Johnson then remarried after a few years later to his step mother. Marcel Garcia was a forty-two year old Chilean woman, who loved to drink and was adventures to the core, but never seemed to find the time to take care of her own son and her stepson. An with his father running there family businesses 24/7 Cream was left to take care of his baby brother Aiden all on his own. Last time Cream and his step mother spoke he let her know how he truly feels and she did not take to kindly to his words ;in fact, she flipped two tables and stormed off.
"Listen, I know my stepmother put you up to this. I don't have time to play these games I have four pages worth of American literature that's due in five hours and I haven't even started on it yet so cut the bullshit and tell me how much she is paying you." Cream demanded agitation clear in his voice.
"Like I said you will marry me in two months. Our families have already agreed to it." He stated moving his the tip of his tongue over his top lip. After saying this he gave Cream his business card and said ", call me when you have spoken to your family more on this matter. My Secretary will see you out ,and I'll see sometime tomorrow."
As Cream was making his way away from the the cold grey building a cold chill ran down his spine and his stomach began twisting into knots.
The drive home was long and boring. Cream pulls his electric blue jeep into his families drive way. Expecting to only see his father's burnt orange Ford. He did not expect to spot his grampy's silver Mercedes parked alongside it. Cream in such a rush to get into the house stumbles over a paint can that was left in the drive way. Once Cream enters the house he could smell the faint scent of peppermint and Cuban cigars signaling that his grandfather really was here. Cream could hear his grampy's laughter from the kitchen so makes his way to the kitchen excitement coming off him in waves.
Cream loves both his grandparents dearly some of his favorite times were of him and his grampy playing in the snow during the frosty winter breaks ,or of him and his granny baking snickerdoodles in the kitchen on thanksgiving.
Once Cream entered the kitchen it fell silent as of they were all waiting on him to come home. His father and grandfather were sitting at the kitchen island with glasses of whiskey in their hands.
"Grampy what are you doing here?" Cream ask trying not to seem suspicious of them.
Grampy looks at his eldest grandson and says ", an old man can't come and visit."
"Sure you can just not on the same day my so called future husband drags me to his office." Cream says staring his grandfather down with his fiery emerald glare.
Grandfather Johnson was a strict yet affectionate man. Who showered his children and grandchildren with nothing but love, and he demanded loyalty, love and obedience in return. He made a name for himself in the steel industry. Now in his old age he likes spending his days on his private island in the Caribbean. Which is way his fair skin has turned dark and tan ,but it goes well with his icy blue eyes.
Grandfather Johnson went slack-jawed for a moment at his eldest grandchild's sharp tongue. He quickly recovered himself and says ",I see so Mr.Pierce has come to see. I told him to allow me to talk to you about it ,but he grew restless. Please do forgive your Grampy for waiting to late to tell you."
Cream was absolutely fuming how dare they give him away like some piece of property up for sale.
"So it's true then ? You expect me to marry a complete stranger with no regard to my wants or needs?" Cream ask arms crossed.
Looking away from his Grampy, Cream looks at his father with pleading eyes as if to say rescue me from this old man's injust decision.
All his father did was look back at him with a sympathy in his clear blue eyes and did not speak.
Anthony Johnson was a 6'4" African American male with the build of a boxer. He had a passion for statistics and business. Being brought up on the principle of all men must work hard to provide for there families every need. He knew his son did not have any interest in taking over the family business nor did he have any interest in anything else beside cooking and reading. Which is why he finally coincided defeat and allowed his father to go through with the arranged marriage to Darian Pierce. Who Anthony believes is a very serious and no nonsense type of guy who works hard and gets the job done. Someone who can handle Cream's energetic and sassy attitude. Anthony knew his son couldn't be arranged to marry some soft hearted male who couldn't stand his ground. No his son would walk all over him like some princess commanding a servant and be sides it was not like Cream was seeing anyone.
" Yes, I do expect you to marry him. This for your greater good Darian is a good man who owns over forty thousand businesses across America and Europe. You marrying him will insure us to have a great connection with his family." Grampy says getting off his stool to stand his ground.
"Well I think that's bullshit!"
SMACK !!!
Cream reeled back from the strike that came from his father's hand.
"Don't you speak to your Grampy that way." Anthony says.
Cream holds his left cheek he seems momentarily stunned and for the first time in forever he can't look his father in the eye. He allows his eyes to roam over there modern styled kitchen with its wooden grey cabinets with the silver handles.
"This is not up for discussion you will marry Darian in two months time. An tomorrow you will go with us to a lunch date with his family and you're to be on your best behaviour."
Cream couldn't believe this first he has to marry some random stranger next his father slaps him for the truth about how stupid this agreement is.
Cream turns around and runs to his room upstairs his somber leafy green eyes water from the shame he felt. His father never slaps him not even when his was younger.
Suddenly the tiny pitter patter of feet could be heard scurring in the hallway.
