Though the breeze felt chilly, I enjoyed the way the cool grass felt under my bare feet. Nakedness for werewolves wasn't uncommon and my wolf, Tarialle, had no care that my chocolate naked skin shined under the crescent moon. My long jet black hair swayed with the gentle breeze and my black eyes kept careful watch around the small field.
We had no care of anything else except her.
Alissa.
'When is she coming? Do you think she's okay? I knew we should have marked her sooner rather than later--' Tarialle stopped when we picked up her faint scent the wind carried and my shoulders sagged with relief.
She broke out of the forest line and I admired her white fur with few patches of auburn, opposite of my own auburn with white patches.
I smiled and quickly took off toward her, as she did the same, shifting midair and landing in my arms.
The sparks ran everywhere, and she giggled.
"Where's your clothes, Patricia? I'm a little cold and can't handle the chill like you can." She nuzzled my cheek before kissing it. The giddiness of seeing her and holding her never faded and never disappeared.
I ran my hands along her pale arms to her cheek, the sparks never ending, I leaned into her and kissed her nose, that had many freckles I tried to count. We walked to where I stood and we dressed up when she spoke.
"Patricia, Faya, my wolf, spoke to the Moon Goddess last night and she spoke of a prophet, a girl destined for hardship and struggle. But Faya couldn't get straight answers but I do know that you will be a part of that prophet." Her blue doe eyes looked into the my own black eyes, into my soul. Her lips trembled in fear, "I-I... Just promise to be careful at all times."
I knew right away that she held back information regarding the conversation but I couldn't question her, she'd tell me when it was time.
To distract her from her worries I brought up a memory, "I remember that day, when I was going on a run and all of a sudden Tarialle went crazy, I mean for a level headed wolf, she suddenly took control and led us on the most amazing scent like after the rain, we both knew what it meant. As eager as her, I didn't even stop her." Alissa's blue doe eyes locked on my own. Her smile showed off her dimples and I had to kiss them. Her giggle made me smile.
"When we finally saw you, the first thing my wolf said was, 'She must be clumsy but she's cute.' Because for some reason I forgot to ask was why we found you in a bush." I never questioned why I'd gotten a female as a mate, cause I knew Moon Goddess paired us for a reason. I was just very happy. Alissa's blush deepened and she shyly looked away.
"I was trying to persuade a bunny to come out but next thing you know, I slipped and bam, head first and tangled in a bush." She mumbled cutely. Her pink cheeks made her freckles pop out more.
I laughed and she swatted my arm. We played around, and I continued to tease her.
This field was our place, where we met up for privacy from prying eyes. It was actually not far from the bush I found her in.
Once we were out of breath from our little play fight, I tugged her into my arms while she wrapped hers around my waist. I looked up at the twinkling stars and crescent moon, my hands lightly rubbing her arm.
I felt, serene. Like after a long tiring day when you finally get to sit back and do nothing but bask in the silence even for a few minutes.
I met Alissa nearly three years ago now, but never got the chance to mark her.
My wolf has been bugging me to do it since we met, but Alissa said to wait.
So I did. We both did.
"Will you be busy tomorrow Patricia?" Alissa asked. I looked at the top of her head and shook my head.
"I have a little work but I should have time to meet you here at night. Why?" She just shrugged, "I want to see you again here, same time again. I've got something for you."
I smiled and kissed the top of her head.
"I can't wait."
---
I'd overestimated the work I had to do and I hoped that Alissa would understand. My wolf was extremely restless and I excused it cause we were late.
Before I could break through the tree line, my wolf tumbled and I registered the pain.
'F-Faya! She just said a rogue attacked her! I can't seem to contact her anymore!' Tarialle whimpered in fear and I felt an uncomfortable sensation prickle down my spine. Tarialle let me take control and I sprinted in her wolf form into the small field.
I scented her blood before I even saw it.
Our spot was covered in blood and the few flowers drowning in it. Alissa's blood. Complete dread grew in me.
I howled loudly at the same time yelling aloud in my mind, 'ALISSA!'
---
'I can't sense her anymore and her scent is completely gone! The only smell I could pick up is the stench of rogues but that is disappearing too!' Tarialle whimpered and I felt her desperation and fear.
After not finding her, I ran after her scent but shortly after the attack, it started to pour.
I could feel my auburn fur sticking to my wolf body, small shivers from the chilly rain.
'We can't give up! We just can't!We will find her, even if we become rogues ourselves!' Determination driven by fear for our mate gave me energy.
I will do anything to find her.

••Few Years Later••
For years, I stayed with this pack of rogues controlled by an obsessed rogue who was desperate for a gem that was believed to give immortality. I knew he had my mate for her ability to talk to the Moon Goddess but I could never find her.
The few years I was here, I never tried to help those wolves who were taken by Keith's rogues. But for reasons unknown, she brought out emotions I kept hidden.
She reminded me of Alissa.
I guess she hadn't noticed my presence. She also must have noticed her hands were free and the doors to the cellars wide open because she started to scramble to untie her bound ankles to a rickety old chair.
"If I were you, I won't dare to escape," I spoke before I could stop, "You may not know but the people outside this little cellar are bloodthirsty. And they'd do anything for it. They'd do anything for a reward from their master. And if it is for your death, then so be it."
She snapped her head toward me, in her eyes held fear for herself. Her voice stuttered when she asked who I was.
I stepped out of the shadows to approach her and extended my hand.
"I'm Doctor Patricia."
