Chapter 5

Elizabeth's POV

Time Skip... A Week Later...

  

  Work is amazing. It's crazy how most people hate their jobs but yet how much I love mine. I never dread coming into work, in fact I get more and more excited to come in with each passing day. Also, my crush on Bruce is growing immensely. It's getting really difficult to hide it but yet somehow I do. It's a miracle! I might tell him eventually but right now, it would be weird to do so. We've only just started to grow close with one another... plus he's an Avenger and my boss... GAH!!!!

    Tony's in quite a mood today. He dragged me away from Bruce without any explanation and is yelling at me about various things. I think he just needs someone to listen to him vent because Pepper's away on business right now. When he's done, his shoulders slouch and he sighs. "Elizabeth, I'm sorry for dragging you out of the lab just listen to me flip out. It's inappropriate and unprofessional of me." I look at him sincerely. "It's okay Tony, you miss Pepper and need someone to vent to. Everyone needs to vent at one point or another." 

      Tony grabs a hold of my hands and out of the corner of my eye, I can see someone staring at us from afar. Tony can feel it too because he whips his head around and it's Bruce with green eyes almost on the verge of hulking out. I run out of the office and go to comfort Bruce. "Bruce, what's wrong? Why are you upset?" He looks at me sadly before Hulking out, going on a rampage through the lab. 

       "Hulk doesn't want anyone else to touch Liz." I look at him in confusion before going over to him. He roars loudly once before reluctantly heading towards me. I extend a hand out for him to take. "Hulk, Tony was upset and I was just comforting him as a friend. He misses Pepper and just needed someone to talk to. That's all, I promise." He begins to relax a bit. "You're not scared of Hulk?" I giggle. "Why would I be scared of Hulk? He's a big softie deep down like the rest of us." To prove to both him and yourself that you're not scared of him, you run over to him and give him a hug.

          The hug takes him by surprise but he eventually hugs you back, shifting back into Bruce in the process. You and Bruce pull apart after a few minutes, the both of you blushing. "Liz, did I Hulk out?" You nod shyly. "Yes you did. Hulk was upset that Tony was touching me in a friendly manner." He looks away in shame. "Damn it Hulk. I'm so sorry Liz. I hope I didn't scare you or hurt anyone." "You didn't hurt anyone Bruce, just destroyed the lab a bit. I can help you clean up. Tony was just upset and he needed someone to vent to. He misses Pepper. I was just being a friend and listening ear." 

         He laughs sadly. "Well I guess the secret's out huh?" You look at him in confusion. "What secret?" He takes a deep breath, looks me in right in the eyes, and says "I like you Liz." A moment of silence passes before the goofiest grin spreads across your face. "I like you too Bruce, I have since long before I met you." He looks at you in shock. "Really?" You nod while a smile. "Really. I don't care about the age gap between us or the fact that you're my boss. All I ask is that we take things slow." 

         Bruce pulls you into a hug. "Absolutely. I would never pressure you into doing anything you aren't ready to do." A cough snaps the both of you out of your moment. Tony's smirking at the both of you. "About time love birds. I've been nudging Bruce to ask you out since your first day working here Elizabeth. I'm so glad he got the balls to do it." You roll your eyes at Tony before hugging Bruce once more. The two of you then go to clean up the lab. Tony decides to help out seeing as he needs the company right now. It's been yet another eventful day.
