It all was starting to make sense. Why he killed Mewtwo but spared me. He needs me to play. He wants me to come to him and fight, playing by his rules. This game cannot be avoided. We will face each other, that's obvious. Question is where. Where does he want this to take place?

He mentioned that I will come to him. Obvious what that means. But he also said he wanted the world to watch. If he's in Cerulean Cave, there are no cameras there. It would have to be a public place. It won't be the Champion room for he said I would come to him. That leaves all the towns.

Saying he comes from Cerulean, he'll probably attack there first. As for when. He will start his onslaught after I become Champion. If what Dad said was true about Mewthree seeing the future, is there really any point in trying? Can the future be so easily changed from what it is?

Jade snaps me out of my thoughts. "Hey!" She yelled. "Snap out of it! We still have to get out of here!"

"Got any good ideas?" I asked. "Because if you don't, we have nothing."

She sat back, huffing as she did so. Honestly, I didn't try to pull on the bars, but, unless I can change the future, I might as well sit here thinking.

We just sat there for a few awkward minutes until Axle said something. "Come on guys!" He said. "If we put our heads together, we'll think of something."

"Is there really any point in escaping anyway?" I asked.

Axle sat there shocked. "What are you saying?!"

"You heard me. If we do escape, what would we do? Team Rocket is powerful enough to take out the league and Mewthree is unbeatable. There's no point."

"Who are you!?"

His increased tone caught me off guard.

"Who are you Ryver?! Answer me!"

He's shouting at me now. I had to give him an answer, but I couldn't find one. "I ... I don't know." I look away and at the ground.

"You don't remember? You don't remember who you were before. Before the mountain. Back before we separated."

I thought hard about the question. My memories were there, but I saw no significance to them. "No."

"It's a real shame. You're not you anymore. You're becoming like everyone else out there. Scared to face a challenge. Where'd the Ryver I knew go? Where's the Ryver that would take any risk that came his way?! Where is the optimistic friend I had met back in the Viridian Forest?! Where'd he go?!"

I just sat there looking at him with a blank face. "I don't know where he went. Maybe he finally saw the world for what it was."

"Well, I sure hope he comes back the way he was before, because, if we're relying on you as is, there's no way victory is with you."

"I would literally have to change the future."

"So, you've probably done it before."

Tears started to flow down my cheeks. "Do you have any idea what it would take to change the future?"

"Insight on the future and a strong will, that's what."

My thoughts started to wonder. Axle's growing more distant. All I heard were the voices of others yelling at me, yelling for help. All these voices all started to fade out as one voice became clearer. It was my father's.

The scenery was my old residence in Pewter.

"Son, I know I've only been here for a day, but I have to leave now," he said.

"Why?" I asked, sobbing. "Why can't you stay?"
