It was now 3pm. Classes were over for the day. The day was long and tiring. That day Erik had been through three classes which had sucked the life out of him. As he was leaving, Dakota had told him that classes would usually start at nine meaning he would go through five lessons. He did get two days off though (Sunday and Monday).

Erik was finally back in his room, lay on the bed. He felt beyond tired, like Dakota was trying to make his brain explode from thinking too much. 'I better get a start on that science homework then," thought Erik.

Using all his strength he got off his bed and made his way back to his laptop. After grabbing his science book from the big pile scattered over his bed, he opened his laptop. "Damn," Erik began to curse; he'd left his email logged on. This was a risky thing to do because of the things he mentioned in the email to Jim. Surely Angel wouldn't go through his emails; that's just low! But, Erik's suspicions were right, after rummaging through the deleted folder, Erik found a reply from his bestmate. Sneaky. Erik shook his head. He really despised Angel now and was adamant he would discover what his Godfather was hiding.

Finally Erik found the page where his homework was written after he had flicked through pages and pages. He had really done a lot of work that lesson, and, at this rate he'd probably have filled the whole book before the week was done. "Ah, here we go," began Erik. "Write an essay about scientific research (past and present) into eternal life." Erik shook his head; he never thought he'd even think about how much he missed school. He wished he could be back, on a Friday afternoon, in a hot and stuffy classroom. He wished he could be sat next to Jim in biology again, messing around and sharing secrets. If only...

After an hour, Erik had completed his homework with great difficulty. He barely managed to fill a page; information on eternal life was scarce. This fact didn't surprise Erik because he thought it was a stupid idea and it would never happen. Who would want to live forever anyway? Some power seeking lunatic probably. That fitted Angel's description, but Erik doubted that his Godfather would waste his time with things like that; he'd probably be experimenting with things that could actually maintain his riches.

After checking his watch, Erik and then his stomach, decided it was time to eat. Before logging his laptop off, Erik put a secure password on his user and then made his way downstairs. He quickly made his way to the kitchen but stopped himself when he saw Dakota and Angel in deep conversation.

"Yes but Dakota, you don't quite understand. I need to experiment on him! The employees families have all realised that something is wrong and that their husband (or whatever relation) has gone missing. They are going to go to the police. I have already received five threats." Angel's frustration was clear and if they had been talking about something else Erik would've enjoyed seeing his Godfather like that.

"I understand that but Erik needs more time to get used to everything before he has to be told that he will be a lab rat."

"Dakota, I thought you understood this! Our time is running out and we need to do something about the previous dead lab rats. We also need to experiment on Erik before it is too late!"

Erik felt the colour disappear from his skin. He had a sick feeling in his stomach and was sure that he was about to pass out. As silently as he could he ran upstairs back to his room and threw himself on his bed. Erik's mind was going crazy with theories, worries and facts. Forcing himself to calm down, he took a deep breath and went through things he was certain of.

Firstly, Erik was right about Angel - there was something strange about him. Secondly, Angel was up to something dangerous which involved Erik. Thirdly Erik needed to stop him.

A small knock on his door interrupted Erik's scheming session. Dakota popped her head around the door wearing a small smile. However Erik could see that beneath the smile she was shaken up. There was one answer for that - Jonathan. He always shouted at his poor employee Dakota and Erik thought it was unfair. Maybe Dakota would be useful to him later on in his plans which were only just beginning to form. For the time being he had to be nice to her, so she would be willing to help him later on.

"Dinner is ready Erik, please could you come downstairs," she began, but then after looking down at his trackies and t-shirt added, "But first please could you change into something smarter?"

"Sure thing Dakota." Erik replied politely, getting up and walking to his wardrobe. He heard the door shut and rummaged through his wardrobe looking for suitable attire. In the end, he picked out a shirt and some smart yet casual jeans. Then, with a sigh, he descended the stairs to what he truly believed could be his last supper.
