My name is Orcaptamete. But most people call me William, my earth name. If they call me William, it is either because they are: my teacher, my boss, or my landlord, because you see, I have no friends. I have no need for friends. Or girlfriends. Plainly because it would be hard to explain to them why they are getting older and I am not. It would also betray the secrecy of my planet and I would be disposed of in a matter of seconds. I am in grade 12. I graduate every year, and start grade 12 over again in a new school. It is rather tiresome and I am much smarter than every one by now, but I must do my duty here on earth. Anthony C. Collegiate was my twelvth and last school, before I could finally go home to planet; frargartha having collected the information I needed. I must say I was very glad to finally have a last year here. Earth is very lonely and boring.
I sat down at a random desk at the back of the classroom my first day of school neatly arranging my binder and laptop under my seat. I wore a basic white button up shirt and black jeans. I don't like to draw attention to myself so I never wear anything flashy. The desks were arranged in little tables with two seats to a table. I hoped noone sat beside me, and noone did. Everyone found seats with their friends until the room quikly filled up until the only vacant seat was behind me. In a few minutes time class started. First class: calculus. I zoned out to the same lectuer I'd heard 10 other times until from behind me at the door there was a sound of running, stopping short, and panting. Everyone turned around but me. I have trained myself not to look at anything that caught my attention. I don't want to seem interested in humans.
"I'm sorry mr. Ziegler" came a girls voice "I'm late. I have an excuse though!"
"Never mind, just take your seat."
I cringed. I thought i was lucky to get a solo seat. The girl looked around and then hurried over to were i was sitting. She looked at me for a few seconds and then sat down. I chose not to look at her and stared straight ahead, trying to look attentive. Despite myself my eyes wandered over to her desk. Her hands were rested neatly beside eachother. What caught my eye was her nail polish. It was light orange with dark orange tips, ther was a line of glitter with a stud going across each nail. They intrigued me. I wondered if she did them herself. Suddenly I realized what I was doing.
"Stop it Orcaptamete! You're getting interested in something earthly! Focus on your school work!" I cleared my mind and listened intently to mr. Ziegler for the rest of the class.
Grace's POV:
I rushed down the hall as quick as I coud speedwalk.
"No, no I can't be late! Not on my first day of school! I found the room and teacher and halted at the door. I stuttered out what sounded like an apology. I hated drawing attention to myself! Mr. Ziegler told me to take my seat so I looked around frantically noticing that the only empty chair was next to a boy. Inwardly I groaned as I rushed over there. I looked him over before sitting down and saw that he was quite handsome. His hair was dark brown and kind of wavy. He had big brown eyes that stared intently ahead. There was something about him, something I couln't quite put my finger on, some sort of feeling around him. I waited for him to acknoweledge me, but he just kept his eyes on our teacher so I just sat down, setting my hands on my desk. I noticed the boy glance over at my painted nails, for a few seconds and then quickly look away. I smiled to myself. I knew they were childish, but what can I say. I have a talent. After that he ignored me completely until the bell rang he quickly gathered up his stuff and left before I could even ask him his name.
