Standing in front of a large elaborately decorated door, "I can hear music coming from inside so this is the right door" Elizabeth spoke softly to herself, she looked around a little bit, no one else in sight. 'Where is he?' She thought as she wondered where her boyfriend was. He was supposed to meet her here but he hasn't made any contact for almost 3 hours, his phone is off.
Sighing once more "I might as well go in," she lowered the mask onto her face 'I'll try calling him after I've at least found something to drink.' She thought as she raises her hands and slowly placed them on the door in front. The door was lighter than she thought. The door now fully opened Beth walked in, slightly looking behind her, she saw a figure gently closing the door.
'How did they know I was behind the door?' she thought now facing forward looking for a table with drinks on it.
The room was full of people, there was no space that wasn't occupied by at least 3 people, she had recognised some masks she saw outside and people she knew personally. She walked towards the only table she could see throughout the ballroom and poured herself some punch, she took a sip. Someone had spiked it with strange tasting alcohol, it left a strange taste on the roof of her mouth, she placed the cup down, she wasn't going to drink more of that.
"Elizabeth!" spoke a familiar voice, she turned around to her one of her best friends who had now hugged her. "Bethy," she hugged back "I'm surprised to see you here." she fiddled with the clip in her hair, "Well, I wasn't going to come, but then I saw some of the women and I just couldn't pass up that opportunity" she winked and Elizabeth smirked at her friend.
Bethy could also shapeshift, but she only has two forms, her humanoid form and her feral form. She still had her pale colour pallet, her spots, her ears and she kept her tail out. She is a sweet thing really but she suffers from a "Resting Bitch Face" means a lot of new people think she's grumpy, or constantly annoyed.
"Well, I'm off to mingle and maybe find a new friend, or two." Bethy laughed giving Elizabeth a hug once more before waving and disappearing into the crowd of people. Elizabeth thought it was a good idea to walk into the crowd as well, to see who else she knew.
So she took her steps towards the wall of people, only just realised the music playing. 'Rock music at a Masquerade ball?' she smiled a little to herself, what an interesting choice of music.
Now within the walls of people, she could see people dancing, talking and the odd few making out, 'Geez, get a room.' she thought to herself, and as if they had heard her thoughts she saw one couple quietly make their way up a stairway and around the corner. She looked around and saw a tall male who she recognised.
"Hello, Logan." she lightly tapped his shoulderblade. He turned around, "Oh, hello, Elizabeth," He glanced around "I do hope you're not here alone?" He spoke with a slight smile on his face, a fang peeking through his lips, he swirled the glass in his hand "I hope you're not drinking the punch" She spoke, "I would never, I can't stand human drink, especially alcohol, just reminds me of the donors who drink before they donate." He shudders at the thought.
"Anyway, where is, Hunter?" He asked, a loathing look on his face, he leaned more on his cane. Beth crossed her arms and sighed again "He was supposed to meet me here but he's not here yet, and his phone is off," She pulled her phone out of a hidden pocket in her dress, and unlocked it "I plan on trying to call him again soon" she looked up to him. "I'm sure he'll show up, he's probably just chasing cars," he spoke sardonic, Beth elbowed him in his arm and smirked with him.
"It's not a full moon, but I'm still concerned." she spoke softly a little worried, Logan smiled and placed his hand on top of her head which snapped her out of it and she moved out of the way from it, "I'm sure he's fine, most likely he's stuck in traffic, on low battery so he's saving it for emergencies, okay?" Logan tapped his cane on the floor, "Okay, you're right, I'll go find some food I'm sure he'll be here soon" she spoke lightly smiling at her kind Vampire friend.
Beth pivoted on her heels and looked around for an exit to the walls again, being short she couldn't see over the people so she just started walking she'd get to a wall soon enough, she lightly tapped the back of someone who wouldn't budge.
"Excuse me?" She spoke up, the figure turned around, he was tall, with fiery red hair with a matching beard, his mask had no holes where his eyes are he also had deep red horns. 'That's kinda creepy,' Elizabeth thought to herself, her face slightly scrunched up, she noticed his small smirk on his face. She lifted her hand to point "Excuse me, could-" she was cut off by the man taking her hand and spinning her around as the chorus plays.
Space was made as he spun her around in small circles, a lot of others stopped to watch this dancing unfold, he placed his hand on her waist and pulled her in tighter, her face started to heat up and a shiver goes up to her spine, being touched by another person.
She tried escaping from his grip only to find him hold tighter, she looked up at him to speak but no words come out, her face scrunches up under her mask 'Why can't I speak?' She thought to herself.
He spun her around again, wider this time making her dress twirl out, he pulls her back on to him to continue the dance. She looks up at his face trying to guess at who this man was, she paid attention to his mask.
It was off-white, almost bone like it was shaped like a human skull but had long sharp teeth, nothing too unusual for a world where monsters live among humans. She couldn't figure out if the horns were apart of his mask or if they were his own.
She looked upon the part of the mask where his eyes should be and was still uncertain why his eyes were covered.
'Is he blind?' She thought, if so how is he to dance so well, even with an unwilling partner.
He lowered his head as if to look at her and she immediately felt flustered, 'What the Hell? What's wrong with me' she felt herself get annoyed at her own reactions she looked forward at the man's chest.
She glanced towards the band on stage and saw the members were wearing similar masks to this man.
'This guy is the host!' She screamed inside her head "What is he doing dancing with someone like me?' She questioned 'What is going on?' She had to know and once again she looked back up to his face and attempted to speak.
"Who are-" was all she could manage as the band started to end the song, this man slowed down the dancing to a gentle stop and she held on a little longer.
His left hand reached for his mask and slowly moved it and a lyric the band had been singing flashed through her head.
'Don't you dare look at him in the eye'
But she couldn't look away, she had to see who this man was, she needed to see his face, he lifted his mask just enough to show her and opened his eyes and looked down at her.
His greeny-yellow eyes so bright even under so much shadow stood out, a thin dark pupil staring back at her, almost looking beyond what could be physically seen.
He slowly leaned down, his right hand found her neck and held her head up to face him, his eyes never blinked, his left hand on her back as he closed his face to hers and his lips touched hers.
Everyone in that room, besides Elizabeth and this man, collapsed onto the floor. This man stood up tall with an unconscious woman held in his arms.

FantasyEver listen to a song and just imagine really interesting stories to go along with it? I know I do. This story is based on a few songs I like it's essentially what I see when I hear the songs. Each chapter is a different song.
