May 14: Pim's birthday
~~~~~"You know, Jack, you really don't have to do this.."
Jack looked down from the tree branch he was sitting on. He smiled that goofy smile and I couldn't help but laugh. His smile reminded me of Ed from Ed, Edd, n Eddy one of my favorite childhood shows. Anyway, you're probably wondering who's Jack (unless you could care less and if so then please skip the following paragraph)
Well Jack is a friend. A friend who I grew to love. I never really thought that dating was one of my things but that changed when Jack came around. Jack considers me as his girlfriend but I consider him as a very special friend that I can kiss and hug whenever I please.
"Yes I do Pim. It's your birthday and this is very special. Besides, it's way better than being in school"
Jack winks at me playfully and hops down from the branch. In the tree now are our initials engraved with a heart around it. I make a disgusted face and pretend to gag. I was never one for cheesy stuff like that. Jack chuckles at my expression.
"Is this what we ditched school for? It's too cliché and lovey-dovey." I pout
Jack pulls me into a hug, literally squeezing the life out of me.
"Well I like it. It resembles our oh so wonderful love don't you think?"
I punch him playfully and he quickly surrenders.
"Okay okay I'm sorry just whatever you do, please don't touch the face! I'm way too beautiful."
"Oh hush, Mr. dramatic"
Jack and I sat at the park bench and we talked about whatever came to our minds. Sometimes we'd talk about food, well, most of the time we'd talk about food, but what can I say, the only thing I love other than him is food. He sometimes gets worried that I'll leave him for a box of pizza, or a bucket of chicken, but I tell him not to worry.
"Well Pim, what would you like to do for your birthday?"
I think, and think. Then think some more because I felt that the other two were getting lonely and needed a buddy.
"I want to go home and play video games with you"
"But we do that all the time."
"Yeah, and I love it."
"But it's your birthday, you only get one day to be special." He laughs. "Well in my book you're special everyday, except the weekends because those are your days off."
"You're quite the jokester aren't you?"
"Yes, and you love it." He winks at me.
Moments later we hear sirens. Lots of them.
"What did you do this time, Pim?"
Ignoring him I stand up from the bench and look at the cop cars passing by. 1..2..3..4..5 cop cars and a firetruck. I look over at Jack.
"They're headed toward your area..you think something happened?"
"I wouldn't worry about it, Pim. Nothing big like that ever happens in my area. I'm sure it's just some cat stuck in a tree."
"Yeah, they need 5 cop cars and a firetruck to get a cat out of a tree, real funny."
"Who knows, it could be some mutant cat that's too big for just one cop car."
"I hope you're right."
I hear the familiar tune of bells chiming, Jack's phone.
"Hold on Pim, I gotta take this."
I nod, and he quickly answers his phone.
"Hello? This is him..."
I walk away from the bench to give him some privacy. Not even five seconds later he hangs up, looking at me with a worried face.
"Jack, w-what's wrong?"
"We gotta go"
