ANNA'S POV
It was hard after our child died a couple of months back. I was struggle to keeping myself together. She was barely a month old but I guess that it was never meant to be. Jordon took it a lot harder than me. He almost cried himself to sleep every night.
I walked over to where Jordan was crying in the corner of the living room. I hugged him tight. He looks up at me wiping stray tears away. We both slightly smile at the same time. His smile disappears as he looks away. “I’m sorry…” he said as a few tears rolled down his cheek. “Hey, it’s not your fault…” I try to say without my eyes filling with tears. He looks at back at me with a small smile. I only smile back at him. We stayed like this for a few moments not saying anything to each other. We stared into each other eyes but it does not last very long.
He got up and started walking to the door. I was confused. Where is he going? He turned around at the door and looked at me seeing the confusion on my face. I started crying sitting down on the floor. He can’t leave me, not now when I need him the most.
“Why are you crying Anna?” he said with concern. “I’m scared Jordan!” He walked back to where I was sitting on the floor. He hunched down and lifted my chin. “You and me both…” he said as he took me into his arms. I felt safe in his arm. My tears became sobs. I looked up at him tears still rolling down my cheeks. He lets me go and stood up holding his hand out to me. I took his hand and he helped me stand up. “Come let’s take you to bed Anna.” We walked to our room. I climbed into bed and he tucked me in. He gave me a kiss on the forehead. “Where are you going?” hoping that he would climb in bed and hold me. He smiled and walked to the door turning off the light. “Sleep well darling.”I twisted and turned but couldn’t fall asleep and the scary noises didn’t help either. I got out of bed to get some warm milk. It always helps me to fall back asleep. As I open the fridge door the back doorbell rang. That was odd. Who on earth would come here in the middle of the night. I walked to the door and opened it slowly. There was nothing, absolutely nothing. I opened the screen door and walked out onto the porch and looked around. “Why aren’t you asleep Anna?” I almost jumped out of my skin. My eyes heavily looked around searching. I met his face hanging out from the rooftop. I should have known that it was Jordan. How did he get up there? He jumps off the roof and walked onto the porch meeting my questioning face. He smiled at me when his eyes met mine but it soon became a very worried look. “I put my hand against my forehead. “I feel weird all of a sudden.” I hold on to Jordan to keep myself from falling. He picked me up and head inside.
He carried me straight to bed. He softly laid me down on the bed. “What happened?” I could barely keep my eyes open. Between my eyes opening and closing I could see his eyes tearing up. “I… don’t know.” A tear fell down his face.
He really looked worried. “We need to get you to a hospital!” He picked me up and stared to walk to the front door. He grabs the car keys and jogs to the car with me in him arms. We are almost at the car as I put my hand on his cheek. “Don’t cry darling… I’m fine.” I say trying to smile. He stopped and looked at me “Don’t lie to me, I know something is wrong!” His eyes fill with tears as he keeps on walking.
He puts me in the car and runs around the car and jumps into the car. He revved the car and speeded of. In seconds we were on the highway. I looked over at him as he dodged his way through other cars. “You’re… driving… to… fast… Jordan.” He looks over at me and slows down a bit. “We’re almost there darling, just hold on!” I smiled at him to show that I’m still fighting. He looks at me with concern. “Good girl, you hang in there!”
We arrived at the hospital. Jordan took me out of the car and ran inside the hospital. He placed me on the empty gourde at the door. “Help my wife! Something is wrong!” He screams at the top of his lungs. A couple of nurses and doctor’s came running over. They rush me down the hall. I see Jordan’s face and I smile at him. My eyes close as we turned a corner. I won’t give up ons you, Jordan.
JORDAN'S POV
As they rush Anna away I see her smile. They turn the corner and she disappears into the hospital. Hours had passed where I fell asleep next to Anna’s bed.
A doctor enters the room and I wake up. “Is she okay?” The doctor writes a few things down and then turned to face me. “Mr…?” “Matthews!” “Mr. Matthews I’m sorry to tell you this but Anna has a blood clot in her brain and even if we operate on Anna now she would die on the table before we will get the clot out…” I cried out loud. Tears ran down my face wetting my shirt. The doctor only gave me a pitiful look. The look you get at funerals when you lose a loved one. I sat next to Anna on the bed and took her into my arms holding her close. This is the end. “Anna I don’t want to lose you. I already lost Emma our baby girl and now you to…” Later that night Anna died in Jordan’s arms.A few weeks after Anna’s death Jordan committed suicide, he left a note to his sister:
My dearest Sammy
I couldn’t take it anymore. Not having Anna at my side. The pain ate me from the inside out. I ask you to take care of the dogs and give them all the love they need. I leave everything that was mine to you.
Know that I loved you. You were the best person in my life and thank you for looking after me all those years.Love Jordan.
