Cinderella Re-Written
***
Once upon a time,
Far far away.
Near the chimney sweep,
There was a girl who sang and leaped.
She was in visible.
Like a nonentity.
Put down and thrown away.
Under a lock and key.
She danced around her room,
And sang her heart out,
Like no one's watching.
But there was no doubt.
This is a story about a girl who danced.
This is a story about her heart.
But when the clock striked midnight,
She ran away.
That little glass shoe was here to stay.
This is a story about a fantasy.
This is a story about me.
The prince found the shoe among the staircase.
He had a royal search all over the place!
He searched from land to land,
For the mystery girl.
Who stole his heart away,
In some other world.
While on the other hand,
The girl had high hopes too!
For the guy who had,
Her little glass shoe.
This is a story about a girl who danced.
This is a story about her heart.
But when the clock striked midnight,
She ran away.
That little glass shoe was here to stay.
This is a story about a fantasy.
This is a story about...
And she's waiting for him to come.
When he does it's like the world is gone.
Stepsisters push her out of the spotlight.
They cackle you missed your last chance by this night.
She sings louder and louder.
Till he hears her.
She sings louder and louder.
Oh!
This is a story about a prince who came.
Who fell in love then forgot her name.
This is a story about my fragile heart.
That fell in love then broke and tore apart.
This is a story about my fantasy that didn't work out.
And so it came to me.
And when the clock striked midnight.
I ran away.
My little glass shoe.
Just had to stay.
This is a story and so I come to tell.
This is a story about me.
