Our Broken Worlds chapter 5

Leo's POV

I woke up to the sounds of snoring. I rubbed sleep from my eyes and looked to see the Son of Hades curled into my side. Questions washed over me as I began to take in my surroundings. It's so dark in here, and this isn't even my bed. Why am I in Nico's cabin? And more importantly, why am I in a bed with Nico cuddled up against me? An answer floated to the surface of my mind, as I recalled yesterday's events. I had asked Nico to be my boyfriend. I had finally gotten the courage to say something about it. It would have killed me if he would've said no.

I've never actually dated someone before, and Calypso, well she's....she's her. We weren't actually together,even after I made it back to Ogyia. When I returned she was sitting on the beach, kissing some other 'hero' and I left without another word. She had broken my heart, shattered it to pieces actually. I loved Calypso, but she just broke something inside me when I saw her with someone else. I promised myself I would never love again, but looking back over these past few weeks with Nico had changed all of that. And I'm glad I took another chance at love.

Nico stirred in his sleep, twisting and turning in the bed. His eyes shot open as he looked at me and gave a small smile. I leaned down to kiss his forehead, and a pink tinge covered his cheeks.

"Morning sunshine."I teased, wrapping my arms around him.

"I'm am not sunshine. I am darkness and you shall fear me."he grumbled.

I laughed and shook my head "Okay, Nico. You are my Ghost King."

He slumped further into the covers and hid his face. I was starting to think something was wrong because he had a frown on his face.

"Leo?"

"Yes, Nico?"

"How are we going to tell people this. About us, I mean."

I shrugged and ran my fingers through my hair. "I don't know, Nico. But whenever you're ready to come out, I'll be ready too." I said. He smiled and gave me a slight pec on the cheek, before getting up and going to the bathroom.

"You should really smile a lot more." I told him when he came back, with fresh clothes and a showered body.

"No can do." He shook his head.

"Pleeeeease. You look so cute doing it. "I whined.

"People will think I'm going soft."

"But you are."

"Whatever, Valdez."

(Few days later)

The dining pavilion buzzed with excitement. We were having our first capture the flag game since the war. Only a few people were actually eating and enjoying the bliss of talking with friends. Chiron had allowed us to sit anywhere we like. I was currently sitting at the Zeus table with Jason, Piper, Hazel,Frank,Percy,Annabeth, and Nico.

Every time, I looked at Nico, a pink tinge covered his cheeks and he looked away. I placed my hand on top of his under the table and smiled sweetly at him. He smiled back, one that reached his eyes, and I felt like the happiest person on earth. Piper squealed from the head of the table, and pointed to every face until she stopped on the one the met Nico's gaze.

"Is Nico....smiling at you?"she grinned.

Nico's eyes filled with panic as he shook his hand free of mine.

"No he isn't." I said.

"He was totally smiling at you, Leo." Piper said in a know it all tone.

Nico had already disappeared to his cabin, or who knows where without another thought. Sometimes I wished I had that power, because gods I wanna be anywhere but here now. The only way to get out of this was to do what anyone else would do-lie.

"Relax, beauty queen, Nico wasn't smiling-smiling at me. He was just smiling because I told a joke." I lied.

Percy raised a questioning eyebrow," Because you told a joke? Nico never smiles, even when you do tell a joke. "

"It was funny?"I asked more than said.

Come on Leo, you're cracking under pressure. Nico doesn't want anyone to know, so whatever you do don't spill anything.

"Yes it was funny."I said air quoting funny. "He just has enough humor unlike the rest of you guys to actually laugh."

"Are you sure Leo, I mean, Nico-" Annabeth started.

Jason cleared his throat and made a move to get up from the table. "I think we should go get ready. The game starts in a few minutes. "

I retreated from the table as fast as I could, but Hazel caught up with me before I was able to completely make a run for it.

"Hay Leo." She called.

I slowed my pace and waited for her until she was standing right beside me. "Yeah, Haze? What can McShizzle do for you?"I joked.

She folded her arms and looked me in the eye with looks that said she knew something, and because she knew something, she wanted to kill me. "You and Nico have been acting weird lately."

"Just a little bonding time between me and your grumpy brother." Technically it's not a lie. Me and Nico do bond-just not in the way she thinks we do.

"It better just be 'bonding'." She narrowed her eyes and stalked off.

I know Hazel is protective over Nico and all, because he's basically a shattered glass-my shattered glass, but something seems a bit off. It's like she doesn't want me to be around him. I ran my hands through my hair, and before going back to Bunker 9 to grab my armor, I walked over to Nico's cabin.

"Hay, Nico, open up."I knocked softly on his door.

Nico appeared at the door with tear streaks down his face and bloodshot eyes. I immediately pushed him inside and sat him on the bed. "What's wrong?"

"I-I'm scared Leo." Nico buried his head into my shoulder and continued to cry while I rubbed soothing circles on his back. "I want to come out, b-but Hazel...she-"

I lifted Nico's head so he was looking me directly in the eye and asked," Hazel? What did she say?"

"Well, I think she knows, or at least has a sneaking suspicion, an-and she keeps glaring at me and tells me to stay away from you."

"Well I will do the exact opposite of staying away from you. " I kissed him full on the lips and picked him up bridal style carrying him to his dresser on the other side of the room. I noticed he kept his armor in here, unlike the rest of the campers. "Now get dressed and meet me at the pavilion. " I sat him down in front of it and gave him one last hug before going to get my weapons and armor.

On the way there, I kept seeing patches of brown hair disappear under bushes and behind trees. I decided to pass it off as smaller campers playing a game, but the weird thing about it, was the way they seemed to follow me. I finally got really annoyed and sped over to the bushes to see who the hell was following me like this.

"Hazel?"

"Goodbye,Leo. " a vial rolled over on its side until it stopped at my feet. Hazel had sped off, and I was left standing there with a puzzled look. I picked up the bottle, which was noticeably too warm to be anything else besides-

"Shit! Greek Fire!"

A/N: yeeeaaahhh. There's another one. Cliffhangers are so awful. o_O. Anyways I'm posting a new chapter right after this so you want be mad too long.
