Chapter One

Nico

It was a good year. I do have to say that.

Trying to get over Percy, I had my first boyfriend and came out to the majority of camp. I dated Will. It didn't work out, which is okay, but we tried.

I think I'm finally beyond Bianca being gone having such a large impact on me. It's okay now. I've come to total peace with her being gone.

And between those two things, I just feel a lot better about myself. I'm confident in myself. I'm also up to a healthy weight and maintaining it, thanks to Will and Apollo's help. And like, Leo's encouragement being Jason left in September to try the mortal world and go to school with his girlfriend. I promised him that if we went and tried that out, I'd try to come out over the nine months.

Which happened. So I was kind of nervous for everyone to show up today, but hopefully, all's well ends well.

Annabeth, Jason, and Piper were the first ones to arrive of our friends, and Jason just about tackled me when they saw Leo and me talking.  Just a bit too excited

Yeah, if you want to talk to people outside of camp when you don't have drachmas, we have to write letters and so after October bit and Jason ran out of drachmas, we didn't really talk at all because he never gave me his address and he just knew where camp was. Not the address.

So he knows nothing.

After all, I didn't start coming out until Halloween and the holidays. Will and I didn't start going out until that time frame between Thanksgiving and Christmas. And then we broke up in March.

And then I went on a date with a kid from the Aphrodite cabin last month and nothing happened after that. That's okay, though. It was awkward.

"Nico!" Was the only warning I got before I was bear-hugged maybe a second later by Jason. "You're still here! You're still alive!"

"I am..." I agreed, slowly nodding my head after he let me go so I could breathe. "Why? Did you think I wouldn't make it or something?"

"Well no, we just didn't get to talk to you guys after we ran out of drachmas." Piper clarified for her boyfriend. "So we didn't know what was going on here. Is anyone else here yet?"

"Just you guys." Leo answered, shaking his head. "Camp Jupiter kids who want to be here for the summer will be here like around dinner, according to Chiron. Where's your boyfriend, Annabeth? He lives in the city, I thought he'd like to wait for you at the airport or something."

"My boy... Oh, Percy." That took Annabeth a second longer than it should've. "I don't know, we broke up last... December? I'm not sure. A while ago. He said he'd be here sometime after lunch, though, being Sally always makes a really big lunch before he leaves for the summer. He really doesn't want to leave this year."

"Why not?" Jason hadn't heard about that. None of us that.

"Oh, Sally's pregnant." Annabeth broke the news to us, which I think I remember Percy telling me that they brought up having a kid not long after he got home when I visited for his birthday. "And she's due... The last week of August or first week of September. So he's missing her entire last trimester and he's really excited because they just found out that the gender."

"Seriously?" This for me excited because I love Sally like my own mother. "What is it?"

She shrugged.

"He wouldn't tell me. Said I had to wait until camp started."

I scoffed.

"Wait, so you guys still get along good?" Piper asked for clarity.
