Ash sat on the coffee table, catching up with Lance. Keith continued to glare at her.
"Wow," he breathed, leaning back on his arms. "You sure have changed." Ash gave him a small smile, as he returned it with a smirk. The door slammed shut.
"Hm?" Ash wondered, looking out the window as Keith approached Shiro. She placed her jaws in her hands, and let out a groan.
Pidge and Hunk sat on the couch, talking about anything and everything, mostly about the rest of Shiro's missing crew.
"Hey Lance, can I ask you something?" She said quietly, fiddling with her thumbs. Lance turned his head towards her and nodded.
"When I was at Garrison, with you, why did you flirt with me? I know you didn't like me, because my friends asked you," she said quietly, glancing at him. His cheeks flushed a slight pink, but it soon went away.
"I uh, lied, to your friends," he wheezed. Ash whipped her head in his direction.
"Well, it's been a long time. I'm not the same person," she said coldly. She watched as Lance nodded, leaning forward. To try and lighten the mood, she softly punched his shoulders.
"Hey man, we're still together, still friends," she said chuckling. Lance again nodded, and said nothing. But the small smile creeping onto his face was inevitable. Ash looked out her window, noticing the sunrise.
"Hah, I haven't been early enough to catch a sight like this in a long time," she sighed, curling her knees to her chest.
"Hey, I've got something to show ya!" Ash said excitedly, taking ahold of Lance's wrist. She tugged him out the front door, and hoisted herself back onto the roof.
Lance struggled to pull his legs over the edge, so she reached out. Hesitantly, he took Ash's hand, as she tugged him up with her.
She rushed up to the peak of the roof, Lance's hand still attached to hers. She stopped in her tracks, gazing at the sunrise.
"The sunrise reminds me of the early days when I was still at Garrison," she breathed. Lance removed his hand from hers and slung it around her shoulders.
"A lot of people missed you," he murmured. Ash removed her gaze from the sunset and turned it to Lance, confused.
"Why? It's not like I had any friends besides you." she murmured, sinking down to sit on the peak of the roof. She felt Lance sit next to her, as he let out a sigh he looked in the direction of Garrison.
"You're more important to some people then you may think," he sighed. The two sat in silence, their words flowing through each-other's brains. Ash let herself slide down the peak of the roof, stopping herself at the edge, her feet dangling off the roof. Lance followed slowly.
"I guess I just never thought, that since what happened with me and those girls-" she cut herself off, her voice beginning to break. Ash hadn't cried since she left Garrison, and she wanted to keep it that way.
"What those girls did to you," he began, taking Ash's hands in his. "Was wrong. And I'll never let it happen again. Ash, you are an amazing person, and they took that away from you, and made you feel worthless. People should've looked at you walking in that crowd and noticed you were uncomfortable, noticed something was wrong. But instead they focused their eyes on the girls who were okay, and didn't need the attention." Lance's words hit home for Ash, as she felt a small smile creep onto her face. He did care. The one person besides Keith who thought of her, even when she wasn't there.
"C'mon, bring it in," Lance said, holding his arms out for a hug. Ash cocked an eyebrow at him. He let his arms fall, letting out a frustrated sigh.
