It was after school. I walked through the hallways, everybody rushing out of the place, almost trampling me over.

Arabella had to leave early, she had a track meet.

I stopped because something in my vision had caught my eye.

The boy, Matthew Espinosa. He was standing outside with his hoodie over his head, and him looking down at his feet.

I walked over to him, I didn't know what had come over me.

"Hello," I spoke.

"If you're here to beat me up or throw insults at me then, go ahead and please get it over with," He softly spoke, not taking his eyes off of the ground.

"I'm not here to beat you up," I said,

"Oh. Then why are you here?" He finally looked up, and that's when I saw his eyes. His brown eyes, looked as if they were in a pool of sorrow, the bags under his eyes told that he was slowly drowning in the depression, losing himself slowly everyday.

"I just wanted to tell you that I really care," I said,

"No you don't, stop lying to yourself," He shook his head.

"I really d-" I got cut off.

"Why did you even come up to me and talk to me if you're just going to lie to my face. Do you not know how many times somebody has said that they really care for me, but they're just curious. No one cares, and I don't want another curious person trying to find out about me and then just leave me like nothing happened," He said, sniffling.

That left me speechless, I couldn't find any words to say.

He shook his head again, looking down.

"Exactly, that's bullshit and you don't really care. I'm glad I didn't trust you," I watched him walk away from me, I was feeling bad.

But I'm not curious. I care.
