A gorilla is a person
Well more or less you see,
We may look slightly different
But we match genetically.
I stand behind the glass
And laugh with glee at you
As you walk and swing and climb
Your personality shines through.
You raise your hands to clap
And put on quite a show,
Climbing to the top perch
And swinging to and fro.
You lift your arm up high
To feel around the roof
And underneath your fur
I see a human arm as proof.
We are 99 the same
And as you prance about,
You act and play like me
And so I have no doubt
Though your hair is slightly longer
And your skin is slightly corse
A gorilla is a person
As your human thumb assures.
