Author's note : Please read Love, Aubrey, before reading this book. it is not required, but it is helpful.

I set the letter on the edge of my desk. I stood up. I was feeling tired, and my nose was runny. I lied down on my bed. I fell asleep before I knew it.

" Daddy! Can you push me please?" Savannah yelled from her swing. We just visited Gram, and we ate dinner, and I was tired from the good food.

" Sure, honey." Daddy said as he walked over to Savannah.

" Aubrey, would you like some watermelon?" Mom asked. I look over to see mom with a big cooler, she is holding a freezer bag full of watermelon. Something seemed off, though. She looked sad. After Savannah and Dad died kind of sad. Suddenly we were back at home. Mom started to vacuum. I called for Savannah and Dad, but I couldn't find them. Then, mom stopped vaccuming, and she grabbed a suitcase out of the coat closet. She opened the door.

" Wait! Mom! Please don't go!" I yelled. She ignored me and left anyway. I fell on the floor sobbing.

" Aubrey!" It was Gram. I was sitting in bed. Gram was next to me. I looked at her. It was a dream.

" What happened, Aubrey?" She asked. I told her about the dream I had.

" I'm sorry, honey. Its ok. Mom is better now." She hugged me. She smelled like fabric softener.

" It felt like the old mom." I said.

First day of school

The sun hit my eyes, making me squint. I am surprised Gram didn't wake me up yet. Sammy wriggled his fins at me, and I dropped in a food pellet.

"First day of school!" Gram burst through my door.

" Yay!" I said sarcasticly.

" Aww, come on! you love school!" Gram joked.

" I can't wait to see Bridget and Marcus!" I smiled.

" Picked out an outfit yet?" She asked.

" No. But, I was thinking the purple heart shirt and a jean jacket, with leggings and a skirt."

" So you do have it picked out."

" Sort of." I shrugged.

" Bridget will be coming over in a little bit." Gram smiled.

" Thanks Gram." I smiled back as she left the room. I changed quickly and sat on the edge of my bed. I thought of mom, and remembered the letter. I jumped up, grabbed the letter and bolted for the mailbox. As I entered the kitchen, Gram looked at me.

" Aubrey? What are you doing hun?"

I ignored her, and kept running. When I made it to the mailbox, I took a deep breath. Without thinking, I shoved the letter into the mailbox, and shut it. I heard the porch door open.

" Aubrey. Are you ok?" Gram asked.

" Yeah." I called. I turned around.

" Hun, are you sure?" She asked.

" Mmhmm!" I answered. She turned around and opened the porch door again. I walked back inside and packed my backpack. Suddenly Bridget burst through the door.

" Hi bridget." I smiled.

" Hi Aubrey!" She beamed. She held out a notebook. I took it, but looked up at her with a confused look.

" For your letters," She explained. I stood and pulled her into a hug.

" Thanks bridget." I smiled.

" You're welcome."

Suddenly, the sound of a bus, had us bolting for the door.

" Bye girls!"

" Bye gram!" Bridget and I called. I loved how we could both call her gram.

We ran up the stairs and sat right in the front seat. The whole bus ride I told her about my mother. She would always say how amazing she sounded, and I would agree.

Once the bus stopped, I was a little nervous. The butterflies in my stomach were fluttering anxiously as Bridget and I went into the building. As we were putting our things away in our new lockers, Marcus came over and surprised us.

"HI Marcus!" I enthused. He gave me a smile and a quick hug. This reminds me of the time I held his hand at Amy the guidance counselor's Halloween party. I didn't feel awkward at that time, but I felt slightly awkward now, since Bridget was there. I don't know why though.

(sorry about the lame update... Can't think of much... Any ideas?)
