The loss of innocence in the 21st century.

Innocence is commonly lost to get results of experience or gaining knowledge. Media plays such a huge role in the loss of teenagers in the 21st century, it plays a huge impact on how kids/teenagers measure their personal image and beauty standard, like the supermodels or actresses they see often influence teenagers who are seeking to find an identity. It sometimes portrays an image that "thin is beauty'' this can lead to teens starving themselves to become like someone else. Movies and television often show characters using alcohol, drugs and engaging in violent behaviors behaviors, at a later stage they think its fun, cool, a way to deal with problems and they seek freedom therefore they start engaging in these activities. So many teenagers fail to distinguish between reality and fantasy.

Peer pressure plays a role as well because teenagers lose their innocence because they feel the need to change their attitudes or values just to fit in with a certain group or individual. Relationships can lead to loss of innocence because they might feel the need to please the other party, do things their not comfortable with because they feel the need to be accepted or they feel the need to be better in order to be good enough

Lack of resources, living in a poor house hold or wanting something but not having the money for it, can lead to prostitution, doing unsafe jobs or stealing in order to feed/help out family or buying something they want/need.

Low self-esteem can also lead to loss of innocent in young teenagers in the 21st century they do violent(like bullying), inappropriate because of their low self-esteem (and starving themselves)
