Teenage pregnancy, also known as adolescent pregnancy Is when pregnant teens under the age of 20 fall pregnant from sexual behavior/intimacy

Teenage pregnancy may result from many factors such as rape/sexual assault, human trafficking with the aim of opening a sex industry, and cultural beliefs. Peer pressure to become sexually active before one is comfortable.

Teenage pregnancy is cause by a lot of things such as CONDOM problem, studies have pointed out that insufficient contraceptives is currently one of the factors that's driving teenage pregnancy in South Africa. Lack of communication, several studies have found that lack of communication between parents and teenagers is one of the few problems involving teenage pregnancy. Some teenagers have become addicted to drugs, alcohol and expensive lifestyle ,some sadly go into prostitution so they may have money this may often lead to pregnancy and some may drop out of school. Unfortunately, there are a number of myths, the most prominent being that sleeping with a virgin will cure HIV/AIDS, this actually promotes the rape of young teenagers, in many cases this leads to pregnancy.


Pregnancy may affect teenagers a lot it may cause effects such as medical complications, this may include anemia, toxemia, high blood pressure, premature birth and threatening the pregnancy and the mothers well being. A teenager may suffer an emotional crisis when their pregnant and don't want the child, this may lead to irrational behavior such as attempting to self-abort or suicide attempt. Education may be put on hold, some teens may decide to drop out. Trouble with finances may arise during teen pregnancy or after the baby is born May have to rely on government welfare or may have to drop out of school if not may not always be able to focus in school or could go through teenage/social judgement or being emotionally bullied and feeling unaccepted, can be exhausted, emotional and unstable.
