A/N: We're back at it again my dudes...

Lauren's P.O.V
My fingers tapped on the smaller wooden throne that sat next to my mate's much larger and more intimidating one. A sigh escaped my lips as I waited for my mate to turn up at some point. It was a regular activity that happened everyday so I hardly believed that she forgot.

It had been a couple of years since she took the throne from my father and it hasn't been the easiest road to say the least. We've had groups of rebels formed, outraged at the new rule. However, (Y/N) has dealt with the situation far better than what my father would have done.

"All rise for her majesty, the Queen." As if on cue, my mate entered with dominance in every step and to say that it wasn't intimidating was an understatement.

Ever since she succeeded my father's throne, there had been a purpose to every step she took, every breath she would take, even to the look she would give to her guards meant business. Not that I was complaining. I honestly thought it was alluring to see a dominance rage within my mate.

The cracking of her heels never wandered as she took her place beside me, not before giving me a warming smile and a quick peck on my cheek. I heard the smallest muttering of a 'morning amore' and the chills that it sent throughout my body was thrilling.

(Y/N) turned towards the small congregation of her advisers, a firm look upon her face before giving a swift nod of her head, allowing them to sit down while I did so myself.

"Thank you for gathering on such short notice. I must say I am glad to see you all once again." (Y/N) reverberated around the hall, causing my blood to grow warm and a delicate purr to rumble deep within my chest at how delightful it was to her my mate speak. Just the way her voice fills my ears is something I will never get used to.

"Of course I would like to apologise for being late. I was pulled away to be told more about our current situation with the rebels." The mention of the rebels, of course, caught everybody's attention. Even mine.

"They have built up a firm ground of fighting men and women among vampires and werewolves. They slowly advance towards our position in order to over throw the monarchy." Muttering emerged from the congregation while I kept my eyes fixated on (Y/N), my nails digging into my throne as anger soared through me at the thought of my mate being in danger once again.

"We must not let them advance any further than the Northern river. I took this throne in order to bring some kind of peace between werewolves and vampires. We must end this fighting swiftly and with mercy if begged. We show them that we are not their enemy." I could notice the Alpha tone that was being laced within (Y/N)'s voice, cause most of the congregation to nod their heads or slouch back in fear that they may anger the wolf part of her who, which I may say, is very much still in there.

A conversation had spurred between the congregation of advisors and (Y/N) who answered them swiftly before moving onto the next point. I had zoned out into the second question as it didn't affect my safety of my mate. That was before I heard her say,

"I will be sending a battalion to take down the rebels in which I will be going myself to show them that I am no worries to fight along my own men and women. Hopefully it could boost morale too." She pauses for a moment, her hand reaching to her forehead, rubbing it to relieve obvious tension that was causing her discomfort.

"That is all for today. You are dismissed." As I watched the congregation quickly gather their belongings before making out the room quickly, my head turned towards my mate, noticing how she took a deep breath and sighing out long and heavy. While I studied her, I couldn't help but feel my mouth dry as everything that I could recall just a few moments ago had finally sunk in.

"(Y/N), you're not seriously going to be going out their." My lungs felt like they were coming to my mouth, suffocating me as I choked on the words I urged to get out.

"Of course. I need to show our people that I'm not afraid of stepping up to the mark and fighting alongside them will do just that." She stood up from her throne, walking over towards me and grabbing my smaller hands in her much larger and semi cold hands. That was one thing I was upset about after changing my mate into one of us. She wasn't as warm as she once was.

"But you could die (Y/N)...haven't you realised that. You are going to battle knowing that people are solely coming over to kill you." A small chuckled escaped my mate's mouth causing me to frown in my confusion.

"Lauren, that is the purpose of battle. You go in to go kill someone or a group of people. Anyway, I'm a hybrid now. I'll have double their strength so don't you go thinking I'll die that easily. Give me a chance." I cursed at my own small laughter escaped my lips, which I quickly stopped after a while once the realisation had sunk that she really was going to do this.

Soft fingertips grazed my chin before they lifted me up to gaze into those (Y/C/E) eyes I have come to adore so dearly.

"I'll come home safely Lauren. I assure you."

"An 'I assure you' isn't enough (Y/N)." I joked lightly, smirking up at (Y/N), which reflected her charming smile.

"Say I promise..." I hushed out between us, barely audible to the average ear.

(Y/N)'s smirk never faded. Instead it grew stronger with it's intensity. She leaned down to my ear, not before gently placing an affectionate kiss to my temple, and uttering those words I desperately needed to hear.

"I promise amore."
