The Trackers

Chapter 1

Ashton can you go and get Lilly?" my mom asked as she tossed me the keys to her silver Lincoln MKZ. I missed, and the keys fell to the floor at my feet. I bend down and picked them up, she should know better than to throw them at me, I was a horrible catcher.

" Sure, were is she ?" I asked as I looked into the mirror. I needed a trim, i had a lot of split ends. My dark brown hair came just below the middle of my back and had a little wave to it. My lips were unbalanced, the bottom lip was slightly bigger than my top one. I had green blue eyes with a little eye liner on. My dad had always told me that I had sad eyes.

"She's at the babysitters house, you know were they live right?" my mom asked, poking her head around the corner.

"Yes" I said heading for the door and grabbing my jacket on the way out. As I stepped out of our house my thoughts drifted to my friends. I turned and looked at our house it was bigger that a normal house but not 'huge' like my friends said it was. It was a tan color with brown shiggles and a porch that wrapped around the side that led to our back yard and inground pool. Our house reminded me of one you would see in a magazine, besides the toys that were scattered across the lawn. I smiled at the thought of my 2 year old baby sister, i loved her so much she was to cute.

With in 20 minutes later I was parked two blocks away from Katie's apartment building because of some move playing, so the streets were crowded with cars but no one on the sidewalks. As I got out into the cold air I noticed three young men dressed in black leaning up against a dark van, they were well built and all had the same black choppy hair cuts. They were watching me...creepy. Without looking back i turned and walked the opposite way to my sisters friends house.

The walk to the babysitters house was long because a lot of people wanted to watch that new movie that was coming out. I finally made it through the crowd of people and then to the apartment building. I knocked on the door and was greeted by Katie's mom, Amber. She had a warm smile on her face as she opened the door wider. She invited me in as she ran to get Lilly and her things. Her home was beautiful for an apartment. She had it well decorated and all the walls were an off white while all of her furniture was light and dark brown. The colors complimented each other very well. She had plants and flowers everywhere and it gave the room a nice smell.

I herd whispers and giggles and then two little toddlers ran out and attacked my legs. I had to use the couch for support so I wouldn't fall. "Ashon" Lilly squealed and let go of my lag then she turned to pick up a piece of paper of the ground she then held up the paper up for me to see it. I sat down on the floor and took the paper from her so i could see it better. It was one of those color pages from a coloring book, it had to girls holding hands. She had scribbles of all different colors on it.

"sissy looky, looky what I made you" she yelled "ats you" she said pointing to one girl before moving her finger to the other girl " an ats ME!" she smiled while shoving her finger to her chest.

"it's beautiful baby girl, how about when we get home we can hang it up in my room" she nodded vigorously. She smiled up at me and it was the cutest smile, showing her deep dimples. She cheeks were rosey from playing and her tight dirty blonde curls were everywhere becides in her pony tail. Her eyes were the same color as mine and were framed in long thick eyelashes, but she had smiling eyes, so even when she was mad she still looked happy.

"Thanks for watching her, how much do i owe you?" I asked while i picked Lilly up and wrapped her up in her pink baby blanket, then grabbed her bag.

Amber smiled at me. "Nothing sweety, i needed someone to keep katie destracted anyways"

I frowned "...Okay bye" before she could say anything i tossed a 20 on the night stand. With that i walked out of their apartment and into the cold night air. Lilly hugged me tighter then told me about her trip with Katie and Amber.

"...den hur mommy took us to da zoooo and we saw a lots of aminals" she giggled and continued " but dis bearw he was bord and he did nofin" she said raising her eyebrows and putting her hands up while shacking her head.

I laughed at the expression on her face "cool, did you have fun baby girl?" I asked. She nodded before putting her head on my shoulder. I held her tighter.

"I lobe you Ashon" she whispered before closing her eyes.

"I love you too sweet heart" I said she nodded slightly and the she was snoring quietly.

About a minute later I herd foot steps behind us. The person had to be able to step on my heels because they were close enough that I could hear their breathing. I picked up the pace to try to put a gap between us and after I while I didn't hear them any more. I rounded the corner and looked back. My heart skipped a beat and I had to take a double take. Yup it was one of them, one of the men dressed in black who was staring at me when I fist got here. He smiled and I walked faster. I found a little gap between two buildings and hid there. Soon enough the man walked by, and was followed by another one of them. I held my breath and let them walk a little bit before releasing it and peeking around the corner to see if it was ok to walk out. They where a couple feet away when i quietly slid out of the gap.

I bumped into someone and my breath caught in my throat. Fear flooded through my body and i held on tighter to Lilly. My heart rate sped up and my knees became weaker. I looked up slowly to see an old man starring down at me, I was releaved that is was not one of the men, I smiled weakly and apologized before walking in the direction of my moms car. My heart beat was still uneven and my breath was coming faster.

I made it to the car and unlocked it. I shifted Lillys weight to my other arm and opened the back door to put her in her car seat, when I felt a hand on my shoulder and pull me away from the car and into someone's chest. I opened my mouth to scream, but then another hand came around and pressed a cloth to my nose and mouth. I sucked in a breath of air and the man tightened his grip so my scream came out muffled. I became lightheaded almost immediately and felt Lilly's weight being lifted off me before I was slung over someone's shoulder.

The man turned and walked away from the car with the back door still hanging open. I began to kick and punch at the man who was carrying me but it seemed like each time i moved my muscles they became weaker and heavier. I tried to scream but nothing came out. I could bearly move, but I managed to turn my head slightly and saw another man who had opened the door to the dark van. He was standing in the moonlight, but I couldn't make out the features of his face, I was to dizzy and my vision was becoming darker. My body became limp and my head fell back down, so i was now facing the ground. I was thrown into the van and landed on my back. Inside all the sets were down in the back and there was another man. He smiled darkly at me.

I looked down to find my precious baby sister's unconscious body in his hands. I wanted to scream, But I couldn't find my voice. I wanted to take her from him and run off without looking back, but my body wouldnt listen. All I could do is lay there and hope that someone finds us, hope that Lilly will be ok.

I stared at her beautiful innocent face before the blackness took hold of me and pulled me under.
