NANG maipasok sa hospital dito sa Minessota ang kakambal niya at nakilala niya ang doctor nito, iba kaagad ang tumakbo sa isip ni Iris. Hindi lang 'yon, pareho pa sila ng hotel na tinutuluyan at iba rin kung tratuhin ito ni Manager David, halatang may special treatment.

This can't be a coincidence.

She's sure that Dr. Cormac Paul Craig knew her husband. He's a military doctor, and he was assigned in Iraq, napaka-imposible lang sa kanya na pumunta pa ito ng Minessota para lang sa kakambal niya.

Something was off.

Kaya sa ilang buwan na inoobserbahan ni Dr. Craig ang kakambal niya, inoobserbahan niya rin ito. Bawat galaw at bawat sinasabi nito, nakabantay siya.

If Dr. Craig knew her husband personally, then she has to know what he knows. Pero kailangan niya munang makasigurado na tama ang hinala niya na personal nitong kakilala ang asawa niya.

Kaya no'ng araw na 'yon, naglakas loob na siyang tanungin ang doctor. Hindi puwedeng ganitong nagugulo ang isip niya.

Hinarang niya si Dr. Craig nang makalabas ito ng ICU.

He stared at her and damn those green eyes of his. It still has an effect on her even though they always bumped into each other every day.

"You need something?" he asked.

Iris stilled. He sounded like her husband. But no...magkaiba ang boses ng mga ito.

Humugot siya ng malalim na hininga. "Can I talk to you?"

He frowned. "You want to talk to me?" He sounded stunned. "Why? I thought it's your goal to not speak to me. You'd been avoiding me, I noticed."

Don't fold, Iris! sigaw ng isip niya sa kanya. You need to ask him something, remember?

"Can we talk?" ulit niya na hindi inalis ang tingin sa lalaki.

"Sure." Dr. Craig shrugged. "What is it?"

Iris took a deep breath. "Do you know my husband personally?"

Dr. Craig blinked at her. "What?"

"Do you know my husband personally?" ulit niyang tanong. Sa pagkakataong 'yon, binagalan niya ang pagsasalita.

Dr. Craig frowned. "That look in your eyes...am I supposed to say yes?"

Her lips parted. "Do—d-do you know him?" She's never been this nervous. "Well? Do you?"

Ilang segundo siyang tinitigan ni Dr. Craig bago umiling. "No. I don't."

"Liar," mabilis niyang sabi rito. "We're staying in the same hotel, with the same treatment from the staff and the manager. And you're here in Minnesota for one thing only and that's because of my sister. You're a military doctor assigned in Iraq and now you're here. It must've meant something. I'm sure my husband has something to do with it—"

"Can't you just be thankful that I sacrificed my job for your sake?"

Napatanga siya sa lalaki. "M-my sake?"

"Why? Isn't this all for you...the reason why I'm here?"

Hindi mawala ang gulat sa mga mata niya. Her husband really pulled some strings for her sake?

"...I received a call from my superior saying someone wants me in Minnesota to do a brain surgery. It wasn't a request, it was an order. And I'm just following my order, Mrs. Racini."

Nagbaba siya ng tingin saka kumuyom ang kamao. "My sake..." Mapait siyang ngumiti. "If it's really for my sake, why won't he show himself to me to end my misery?" Nagtagis ang bagang niya. "I'm sick of this."
