Kayla left the lunchroom with tears in her eyes. She had to find the nearest restroom, she wanted some time alone. She just didn't want to see anyone right now.

"Damn, contacts and crying just don't mix," she thought. She could barely see where she was going;. next thing she knew she had bumped into someone.

"Kayla? OMG, Kayla is that you?"

It was Shaundra. Kayla hadn't seen Shaundra since the football game when she found out that Stan was the QB on the JV team.

"Shaundra, do you know where a bathroom is around here?" she asked. "I'm having some problems with my contacts."

"Sure, c'mon." Shaundra said leading her by the arm.

Shaundra led me to a restroom in a part of the building that was pretty empty since it was still lunchtime.

"Kayla you really look nice," Shaunda said as she noticed what Kayla was wearing. What's wrong?" she asked noticing Kayla's red eyes.

"Oh, it's these new contacts," I tried to play it off. "I'm still trying to get used to them."

"Bullshit, you've been crying," she said. "I can tell; your mascara is running."

"Oh, it's...it's nothing Shaundra," I began "just something Charlene said, I'm probably being silly," I said as I tried to repair the damage to my makeup.

"Charlene Cook? If you're talking about Charlene Cook, I really doubt that you're "being silly," she said. "Lately she's been acting like she thinks she's the shit."

"Yeah. What's got into her?" Kayla asked. "We used to be friends, but today she tried to humiliate me by..." she stopped realizing she might be saying too much.

"What did she do?" asked Shaundra curious.

"Oh Shaundra, I really shouldn't say...maybe I'm over-reacting," Kayla tried to dismiss it.

"Kayla Jackson! How long have we known each other?" Shaundra became indignant. "Have I ever gave you a reason not to trust me?" she asked.

"Well...no, but Shaundra...you might get mad at me if I tell you," I warned her.

I needed to talk with someone. I really needed a friend right now, and I did trust Shaundra, but I just didn't know if I should tell her about me and Stan. In a way I felt like I should...she had admitted to having a crush on him, maybe she still did. I felt that I should at least let her know that I was interested in him but not tell her everything.

"Okay," I had decided. "First I have to ask you. Was there ever anything between you and Stan Larkin?"

"No. I told you that I had a crush on him at one time, but we never had anything going on." she answered. "We're just friends...if that."

"Not even so much as a kiss?" I asked her. I wanted to know the answer to that one for myself.

"No, not even a kiss. Why?" she asked.

"Because," and I couldn't help feeling a little giddy myself remembering, "I kissed him," I lowered my eyes and blushed. I was kind of embarrassed to finally be sharing this with someone.

"What? When? You lucky bitch!" she exclaimed. "I would screw the whole football team for just one kiss from Stan. Wow," she said looking at me with newfound admiration.

I laughed at her reaction.

"So what did Charlene do?" she asked reminding me of why I was so upset.

"Oh, she told me that she's going out with him after the game Friday night," I told her. "But she did it in front of all of the Jockettes to humiliate me--I'm not sure why."
