"Oh, the one your parents want you to marry? Was she nice?" He didn't like this. He needed you to know that he would forever love you, not her. "I only need you. I only want you. I promise."

You knew that being in a secret relationship with the prince was a bad decision from the start. You knew you two weren't meant to end up together. He was meant to marry the new princess, the stuck up one who didn't think she owed anything to the kingdom. The one who only wanted to marry Ashton to become the queen. But that isn't what Ashton wanted. He wanted to marry you, the one he fell in love with, the one who helped those in need, the one who loved him back. It wasn't that easy though. According to history, the first born son is to marry a princess of a neighboring kingdom, in order to become king and unite the two. It was never about love, always power. You knew this, Ashton knew this, and the princess knew this. She knew that it was already predetermined that they were to marry. She didn't have to worry about him liking her, they just needed to keep the royal bloodline going and unite the kingdoms. Despite all of this, you two still were in a relationship, and you two loved each other so much. So in love that Ashton was determined to fight for it. Surely you were a better ruler than her, unlike her you actually cared about him and the wellbeing of the kingdom.

So with that in mind he went back to the palace, where his mother and the princess were talking. "Mother, can I speak with you please? It won't take long." He called to her, noticing the smile on her face. "Sure honey" she said before turning back to the princess, "dear I'll be right back, be sure to look around, as this will be your home soon." Ashton was shocked, maybe it was going to be a bit more difficult than he thought. "Mum? That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about. She honestly doesn't even know who I am and she doesn't care about the kingdom. I don't want to marry her." He wondered if this was going to work, he never heard to anyone not marrying someone of royalty. "Ashton what do you mean, she does care about the kingdom. I was just talking with her, she says she loves it here already. She even said she helps at the kitchen in her town. She's perfect for you. I'm sorry, but this isn't your decision. We need to unite the kingdoms, and the only way to do that is if you marry her. Now, I suggest you go get to know your future wife because the wedding is in three weeks." His mother walked off, probably going to talk to the princess' father about the wedding. "Oh and Ashton, you need to break it off with that girl. I'm sorry honey, but this is the way it has to be." How did she even know about you, he hadn't told anyone and he was sure you hadn't either. But Ashton had bigger things to worry about, like finding a way out of this wedding.
