Few things happened over the past few days, Ash, was slowly, but surely returning into her depressed state.

Despite the recent night, Keith was still not around much, causing her to feel lonely again. Allura had Koran, Pidge had Hunk, and Lance had Shiro. Ash didn't have anyone.

The alarm sounded on the ship, causing everyone to run to the main panel, including Ash. The crew gazed at the screen curiously.

   ''Whats going on?" Allura asked.

"We're receiving a distress signal," was Koran's reply, typing on the blue screen. The paladins hurriedly rushed to their lions, and headed to the location of the distress signal.

Once they reach their location their distressed calls for help came through in her earpiece, tearing at her heart.

The group gathered in the castle, Voltron have being able to save the medical ships and the rebels, due to Shiro being able to re-forge his bond with the black lion.

The door slid open, and Keith stepped in. Ash smiled and waved, Keith lifted his hand up to return it, but stopped when he saw the angry glares of the rest of the crew. Ash lowered her hand and stepped back.

"I heard what happened... I'm sorry I wasn't able to help"

"You keep saying your sorry, but your actions say otherwise." Allura retaliated. Anger bubbled up inside Ash, so she said something in front of the crew for the first time in weeks.

"You're acting like it's Keith's fault." She said through gritted teeth. The crew turned to her with shocked expressions, including Keith. Keith sighed and avoided eye contact.

"This is not the way I wanted this to happen," he said sadly, turning his gaze to the floor. "But if there's a bright side to any of this, it's that my absence allowed Shiro to reestablish his bond with the black lion."

Ash gulped, having a dreading feeling in her gut about where this was leading.

"He can finally be the leader I was unable to be," he continued, breaking Ash's heart with every word. "I'm not meant to pilot the black lion."

"Is that why you've been pulling away from us?" Allura questioned, the rest of the crew's gazes softening. Keith's hands balled into slight fists, before he released them.

"Yeah, I suppose that's part of it." Was his only response. Ash gulped, gazing at Keith.

"Part of it? What's the other part?" Hunk questioned. Tears again threatened to spill down Ash's cheeks, but she held them back in fear of looking weak in front of the paladins and Koran.

"The Blades have been making real headway in tracking the source of this new Quintesence." Don't say it, don't say it, was the only thought running through Ash's mind as Keith continued to speak. "They've been able to piece together a large network of secret supply lines that's been transporting it... who knows how long." Keith sighed, looking back up at the group finally.

"And there's good reason to believe it could lead us straight to Lotor. A mission," he hesitated slightly, his voice beginning to break. "Is being planned to infiltrate the supply lines. Could take weeks, maybe months, to pull off. But, if there is a chance, we have-" Keith's voice was audibly breaking under emotion with every word, but he continued. "I have, to take it. I need to be on that mission. Shiro, you, are the rightful leader of this team. And you proved it today by re-connecting with the black lion."

Ash covered her whimpering mouth with her sweater sleeve, trying to muffle the sounds. Keith made eye contact with her watering eyes and sighed before continuing.
