Raven's POV

6 months earlier

It was early Monday morning. The sun was rising, the birds were chirping, and I had yet to find a suitable outfit.

"Raven you have been standing at your closet for the last 10 minutes looking for an outfit. Just put something on or else you will be late for school." My dad says as he leans against the frame of my door.

I turn away from my closet to face my father. He's about six feet with brown hair and green eyes. He wears an all black suit with a white button up and a pale blue tie.

"Well you don't have an impression to make." I tell my dad as I turn back to shift through all of my clothes in my closet.

I look over my shoulder to see my dad still standing at my door shaking his head.

"Sweetheart, I'm on of the biggest defense attorneys in the city. I already have a reputation." My dad starts walking away from my room to head down stairs.

"Well thanks for reminding me!" I yell as I finally find an outfit.

A few minutes later I'm standing in front of my full length mirror inspecting my outfit. I decided to wear a long sleeved floral t-shirt with a black high low skirt, a gold belt, and my favorite pair of black heels.

Walking out of my room and into the hallway I hear my mom yelling at my dad once again. Deciding to ignore their yelling for once I walk straight into the bathroom and reach into the cabinet for my makeup bag.

Looking through my makeup bag I try and think what would be best to go with my outfit and my facial features. I have dark blue eyes that contrast with my dark brown hair and light tan skin tone.

Pulling out my black eyeliner I only put it on my lower eyelids. Shifting through my bag I pull out my mascara and lip gloss. After applying both my mascara and lip gloss I throw everything back into my bag and zip it up. I give on last glance in the mirror to check and make sure my hair is still wavy, I turn off the light and walk out of the bathroom.

On my way downstairs I hear my parents having another one of their daily arguments. They've been arguing for as long as I  an remember. It use to be over small stuff like bills or who's turn it was to take me to school. Now they argue about how my dad spends more time at the office then he does at home. Mom swears up and down that he's sleeping with his secretary, but every time she brings it up he denies it.

Reaching the bottom of the stairs I loom straightforward and see my mother practically in tears while my dad continues to tell at her. Not wanting to bother them I walk to the door, pick up my backpack and my car keys and walk out the door without a single word.

Walking down the step of my house I head to my BMW. Unlocking the doors I get inside my car and put my backpack on the passengers seat. Closing the door I put the key I  the ignition, start the car and back out of my driveway onto the road.

Before I go to school I stop by Starbucks and get a vanilla bean frappe.

The drive to school take no more than ten minutes. Pulling into the schools senior parking lot I look for my two best friends cars. Finding a spot close to the front doors of the school I pull into it and turn the car off. Grabbing my things I exit the car and close the door behind me.

Before I can even take two steps towards the doors I hear a voice I haven't heard in a while.

"Well, well, well look who it is. It's the one and only Raven Hathaway." Turning around I see my best friend Jade standing there basking in all her glory with her hands on her hips.
