Dagur hefted the last of Mala's things onto her dragon and the two said their farewells with a kiss. "Travel safe alright?
Mala grinned and hopped onto her dragon, patting it when it shifted restlessly, eager for flight. "Of course my love. Have fun while I'm gone, and don't get lost down there." Dagur laughed and gestured towards his own dragon, Sleuther. "A berserker never gets lost! Besides, I'll have Sleuther with me, and we aren't going too deep so that I can avoid the bewilderbeast." With a final wave and a grin, Mala shot off into the sky, soon vanishing from sight along with Throk and two guards.
The opening to the cave network hadn't been hard to find; it was a huge dark hole that led down into darkness, no ice visible at the top but obviously hidden within, only betrayed by the cold winds blowing up into Dagur's face as he started off.
Once he was deep in the tunnels, Dagur turned off down one of the many twisting passages, knowing that one of them had to bring him to the deepest chasm, and hopefully to some new dragon species which he could observe and tell Hiccup about. The berserker chief wasn't expecting to find much, maybe some smaller species or glow-worm type subspecies. After all, what did the bewilderbeast eat down there in the ice?
Dagur was stomping his way down a dark passage, using a small lantern for light, when Sleuther suddenly reared, shaking and roaring. The ice began to rumble under Dagur's boots as he tried to calm his dragon, and all at once the ground was sliding away beneath him, and he was falling into the deepest parts of the caves.
