Chapter 7 (Do I have feelings for you?)

The next day at lunch, Shawn bumped into me at my locker.

"Melissa!" he loudly greeted me drawing the attention of Katie. She looked up from her locker mirror and stared at Shawn with lust which for some reason upset me.

"Hi there, I'm Melissa's friend. Who may you be" she interjected. He smiled a forced smile at her and replied with a simple

"Shawn" but he didn't reach out to shake her hand like he did with me.

"I'm Katie" she batted her eyelashes which only made me even more upset. She was flirting with Shawn when she barely even knew him! But wait, why am I getting upset, I mean it's not like we're dating. I could tell Shawn was getting uncomfortable because he started to shift his weight from one foot to another.

"So, what are you doing after school? Cause if you're not doing anything-"

"I have somewhere to be after school actually. And I need to go somewhere right now" Shawn quickly stated as he grabbed my arm and started to fast walk away from Katie. Once we made it to the band room, he shut the door behind him and said

"Well that was awkward."

"Yeah sorry 'bout that, but that's Katie for you" I apologized.

"Anyways" he walked over to the piano and say down on the bench behind it and said

"Can you sing me another song please?"

"But I already sang for you last night!" I complained.

"Yeah and it was beautiful and addicting, therefore I want you to sing again. Besides, that was only once. How many times have I sang for you?"

Sighing, I gave in and sat next to him by the piano. I opened my notebook to the page of the song I was going to sing and handed it to Shawn saying

"Here's the lyrics to the song."

Then I took a deep breath and played.

At the bars filled with perfume and hitching a ride

It's clear this conversation ain't' doing a thing

I looked at Shawn and he was staring right back at me. He broke into a smile and said

"Beautiful" which made me blush as always.

"Thank you."

"You know what you should do" he asked but it came out as a statement.

"You should post videos of you singing on YouTube" he exclaimed.

"What?! No Shawn" I whined.

"But Melissa" he mocked.

"It would be great! Imagine if the Red Piano saw your videos, what if they decide that you don't need to perform at those 10 restaurants. What if they let you perform there because they think that you are so amazing." he stopped to catch a breath.

"But I don't want to feel the same pain that I felt when I played for my friends and-"

"But everyone at the Blue Chairs Cafe loved you" he stood up from the piano.

I hate it when he's right which is %99 of the time so.

"And besides, there's going to be haters everywhere, just don't give them the power to control you and your emotions. You can't let them stop you from shining" he put his hand on my shoulder and sat back down closer to me so that our sides touch causing my heart to race. Why am I acting like this, do I like Shawn in that way?

"I'm sorry but I'm not comfortable with doing that. Maybe later." I apologized for the second time since we came to the band room.

"Ok" he held his hands up in defeat.

"But anyways, Richard says that you'll be performing every Thursday with me. So I was thinking, maybe we could do a duet together!" he clapped his hands together. I have to admit, this is a pretty good idea.

"Ok."

"Yay! Ok what sing should we do" he bounced up and down in his seat with excitement. We chose our song together then practised it until the bell rang.

I'M BACK! See I told you a chapter would be up before you know it ;). Anyways, the song Melissa sings is called "city" by Sara Bareilles. Sorry I didn't tell you guys what song Melissa and Shawn are going to sing together, I want it to be a surprise! What song do YOU think they're going to sing? And do you think Katie will try to interject herself into Shawn and Melissa's relationship? And does Melissa have feelings for Shawn? Does Shawn have feelings for her? (So many unanswered questions, is that a bad thing?)
